  1. History

The Royal Archives, also known as the Prince's Archives, is a division of The Royal Household of the Sovereign of the Principality of Woodlandia. It is operationally under the control of the Keeper of the Royal Archives, who is sometimes customarily regarded as a Private Secretary to the Sovereign. The Royal Archives was formally established on 2019 and is housed in the Hall of Records at Wallace Government House. Since the Royal Archives are privately owned, requests for public access for content not published must be approved based on the needs and qualifications of the researcher.

Following the royal family's claim over the Principality of Woodlandia, a position for Keeper of the Royal Archives was created by HRH Sovereign Prince Shawn of Woodlandia to safeguard the Prince’s “collection of official and private correspondence.” Through the attainment of additional records and collections through various means of acquisition, the Royal Archives gradually increases in scale each year. The archive's housing are constantly maintained and improved with continued renovations addressing spatial constraints, ultimately providing more effective methods of archival preservation.

2. Stewardship

The Royal Archives is the responsibility of the Keeper of the Royal Archives (Royal Librarian), qualified Archivists, small clerical staff and other professional staff who is in charge of the day-to-day work in the archives. In addition to paid staff, volunteers are crucial in maintaining collections, developing exhibitions, and facilitating research. Royal Archives staff ensure that collections in the royal archives are efficiently catalogued and made accessible digitally.

3. Collections

The Royal Photograph Collection also occupies part of the Royal Archives at Wallace Government House and holds photographic material from the Royal Collection. The Royal Photograph Collection is managed by the Royal Archives and is the responsibility of the Keeper of the Royal Archives.
