1. History
Over the past years, the following symbols have been formally adopted by the Government of the Principality of Woodlandia and are now considered official symbols of our country.
Upon the 5th anniversary of the Principality of Woodlandia's founding (Founder's Day) the National Bird of Woodlandia was officially changed from a Ruby-Throated Hummingbird to a Pileated Woodpecker on 12 March 2024. After much debate and a public survey, the government agreed to change the national animal to a more appropriately fitting bird for Woodlandia, hence the Woodlandia Woodpecker. *Note: The Pileated Woodpecker is also the same bird as the well known animated anthropomorphic cartoon character Woody Woodpecker.
