3. Issue of Stamps

Although Woodlandia Post is responsible for stamp design and production, the corporation does not actually choose the subjects or the final designs that appear on stamps. The task falls under the jurisdiction of the Stamp Advisory Committee. Their objective is to recommend a stamp program that will have broad-based appeal, regionally and culturally, reflecting Woodlandia history, heritage, and tradition. Before Woodlandia Post calls a meeting of the committee, it also welcomes suggestions for stamp subjects from Woodlandia citizens. Ideas for subjects that have appeared on previous stamps are politely declined. The committee works a year in advance and can approve approximately 3 subjects for each year. Once a stamp subject is selected, the committee group conducts research. Designs are commissioned from a firm, chosen for it's expertise. The designs are presented anonymously to the committee. The committee's process and selection policy have changed little since first introduced.

The first stamp issued in Woodlandia was designed March 2019 by HRH Prince Shawn.

5. Stamp Collecting

The Royal Woodlandia Post offers postage stamps for sale to persons wishing to send items by mail, as a gift, or add to their personal collection. Whatever the reason, the Royal Woodlandia Post recognizes the many stamp collectors around the world who consider stamp collecting a hobby. Collecting stamps is not the same as philately, which is defined as the study of stamps. The creation of a valuable or comprehensive collection, however, may require some philatelic knowledge. The Royal Woodlandia Post has exclusive rights to market stamps to collectors. Stamp collectors are an important source of revenue for the Royal Woodlandia Post which creates limited runs of elaborate stamps designed mainly to be bought by stamp collectors. The stamps produced by the Royal Woodlandia Post may far exceed its postal needs. Sales of stamps to collectors who do not use them for mailing can result in large profits. Excluding definitive stamps, each year new issues are produced, but expire at the end of the year, depending on the reason issued.

Additionally, the Royal Woodlandia Post has authorized the production of postage stamps that have no postal use, but are intended instead solely for collectors. Sometimes large numbers of low denomination stamps are bundled together in starter packs for new collectors. Official reprints are often printed by companies who have purchased or contracted for the rights. All of these stamps are often found "canceled to order", meaning they are postmarked without ever having passed through the postal system. The Royal Woodlandia Post produce stamps that would not be produced if there were no collectors.

6. Official Mascot

March 2019, shortly after the founding of the Woodlandia Post, Prince Shawn had designated the Northern Cardinal as the official mascot of the Royal Woodlandia Post.

On September 2023, a gift originally to the Prince was donated to the Royal Woodlandia Post Corporation by HRH Prince Shawn. The donation is a hand made/hand painted wooden cardinal bird. The cardinal is a replica of the mascot for the Royal Woodlandia Post Corporation and sits inside the Woodlandia Post Office.

7. Anniversary

For the one year anniversary of the founding of the Principality of Woodlandia, the Royal Woodlandia Post commissioned a stamp to be created to commemorate the event. A definitive stamp was released on March 12, 2020, and features the official flag of Woodlandia with a denomination of one Woodlandia Shirley (dollar). It was designed by HRH Prince Shawn, and is the third stamp issued by the Royal Woodlandia Post.
