Warranty Tracker ("we", "our", "the app") is a mobile application that helps you track product warranties, including item details, purchase dates, warranty expiry dates, and receipt/product photos. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, store, and protect your information when you use our mobile application.

By using Warranty Tracker, you agree to the collection and use of information as described in this policy.

## 2. Information We Collect

### 2.1 Information You Provide

When you use Warranty Tracker, you may enter the following information:

- **Product details:** item name, brand, model number, serial number

- **Warranty information:** purchase date, warranty expiry date, reminder preferences

- **Categories:** custom category names and icons for organizing items

- **Photos:** receipt photos and product photos captured via camera or selected from your gallery

- **Notes:** free-text notes about your warranty items

- **Purchase information:** any purchase-related details you choose to record

All of this information is stored **locally on your device only** and is never transmitted to our servers.

### 2.2 Information Collected Automatically

- **Device information** (device model, OS version, app version) for crash reporting via Firebase Crashlytics

- **App usage analytics** (screens visited, feature usage patterns) via Firebase Analytics

- **Advertising identifiers** for serving advertisements to free-tier users via Google AdMob

### 2.3 Subscription Information

If you purchase a premium subscription, Google Play processes the transaction. We receive only your subscription status (active/expired) to unlock premium features. We do not receive or store your payment card details.

## 3. How We Use Your Information

We use collected information to:

- **Provide core functionality** — store and organize your warranty items, categories, and photos

- **Send warranty expiry reminders** — local notifications scheduled via WorkManager to alert you before warranties expire

- **Display advertisements** — serve ads to free-tier users via Google AdMob

- **Improve app stability** — identify and fix crashes via Firebase Crashlytics

- **Understand usage patterns** — improve app features based on anonymized analytics

- **Process subscriptions** — verify premium status to unlock features (unlimited items, unlimited categories, ad-free experience)

## 4. Data Storage and Security

### 4.1 Local-Only Storage

**All your personal data stays on your device.** Warranty Tracker does not have cloud sync, cloud backup, or any server-side storage for your warranty data.

- Your warranty items, categories, and notes are stored in a local Room database on your device

- Photos (receipt and product images) are stored in the app's private internal storage using Android's FileProvider — they are not accessible to other apps

- App preferences are stored locally using SharedPreferences

- **No warranty data, photos, or personal information is ever uploaded to any server**

### 4.2 Security Measures

- Photos are stored in the app's private internal directory, inaccessible to other apps

- All network communication (analytics, crash reports, ads) uses HTTPS/TLS encryption

- The app does not collect, transmit, or store any login credentials

## 5. Data Sharing

### 5.1 We Do NOT Sell Your Data

We do not sell, trade, or rent your personal information to third parties.

### 5.2 Third-Party Services

We use the following third-party services that may collect limited data:

- Free-tier users see advertisements served by Google AdMob

- AdMob may use device identifiers and usage data for ad personalization

- The app uses Google's User Messaging Platform (UMP) to obtain your consent for personalized advertising

- Premium subscribers see no advertisements

## 6. Photos and Images

- Photos are captured or selected **only when you explicitly choose** to add a receipt or product photo

- Photos are stored in the app's **private internal storage** on your device

- Photos are **never uploaded**, synced, or transmitted to any server

- Photos are **never shared** with third parties or used for advertising

- You can delete photos at any time by editing or deleting the associated warranty item

- Uninstalling the app removes all stored photos

## 7. Notifications

- Warranty Tracker sends **local notifications only** to remind you of upcoming warranty expirations

- Notifications are scheduled locally on your device using WorkManager — no push notification server is involved

- On Android 13+, the app requests your permission before sending notifications

- You can disable notifications at any time through the app's settings or your device's notification settings

- Notification preferences are stored locally and never transmitted

## 8. Purchase and Financial Information

- Any purchase-related information you enter (such as purchase dates or warranty details) is stored **locally on your device only**

- This information is **never transmitted** to our servers or any third party

- Google Play Billing processes subscription payments — we never see or store your payment method details

## 9. Children's Privacy

Warranty Tracker is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we discover that a child under 13 has provided us with personal information, we will delete it promptly.

## 10. Your Rights and Choices

### 10.1 Access and Control

- You can view all your data within the app at any time

- You can edit or delete any warranty item, category, or photo you have entered

- All your data is under your direct control on your device

### 10.2 Data Deletion

- You can delete individual items or categories from within the app

- Uninstalling the app **permanently removes all locally stored data**, including warranty items, categories, photos, and preferences

- Since no data is stored in the cloud, uninstalling the app is a complete data deletion

### 10.3 Notifications

- You can disable notifications at any time through the app's settings or device settings

### 10.4 Ad Preferences

- Premium subscription removes all advertisements

- You can opt out of personalized ads via device settings (Settings > Google > Ads)

## 11. GDPR Compliance (European Users)

If you are located in the European Economic Area (EEA), you have additional rights:

- **Right to access** — request a copy of your data

- **Right to rectification** — correct inaccurate data

- **Right to erasure** — request deletion of your data

- **Right to restrict processing** — limit how we use your data

- **Right to data portability** — receive your data in a portable format

- **Right to object** — object to data processing for marketing

The app uses Google's User Messaging Platform (UMP) to obtain consent for data processing and personalized advertising in compliance with GDPR.

## 12. Data Retention

- **Local data** is retained until you delete it or uninstall the app

- **Analytics data** is retained per Google's standard retention policies (14 months)

- **Crash reports** are retained for 90 days

- **No cloud data** is retained, as the app does not use cloud storage

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes by:

- Updating the "Effective Date" at the top of this policy

- Posting a notice within the app

Your continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
