# Privacy Policy for LawyerKit

## 1. Introduction

LawyerKit ("we", "our", "the app") is an offline-first case, hearing, and fee management app for individual legal practitioners. It helps you organize matters, track court hearings and a cause list, maintain a client fee ledger, store case documents, and generate PDF case summaries and receipts. This Privacy Policy explains how your information is handled when you use the app.

By using LawyerKit, you agree to the practices described in this policy.

## 2. Information We Collect

LawyerKit does **not** require an account, sign-in, or registration. You do not provide us with your name, email, or phone number to use the app.

### 2.1 Information You Enter

All content you enter is stored **locally on your device**. This may include:

- Matter/case details (title, case number, court, case type, stage, act/section, opposing party and counsel, filing date, notes)

- Client contact details you choose to add

- Hearing dates, purposes, and outcome notes

- Fee ledger entries (charges, payments, amounts, payment mode, receipt numbers, notes)

- Case documents and photos you attach

- Tasks and reminders

This is professional record-keeping data. It is stored only on your device and is **not** transmitted to us or synced to any cloud server by the app.

### 2.2 Information Collected Automatically

- **Advertising identifiers** — used by Google AdMob to serve ads in the free version (see Section 5).

- LawyerKit does **not** collect analytics or crash-reporting data, and does **not** track your location.

### 2.3 AI Drafting Feature

When you explicitly choose to generate a draft (e.g., an adjournment request, client hearing update, engagement letter, or fee reminder), the relevant matter details you selected are sent over a secure connection to a Google Gemini model through our processing proxy solely to produce the requested text. This happens only when you tap to generate a draft. The generated draft is returned to your device; the request is not used to build a profile of you and is not stored by the app on any server.

## 3. How Your Information Is Used

- To provide the app's core functionality (matters, hearings, cause list, fee ledger, documents, tasks) — entirely on your device.

- To schedule local reminder notifications for upcoming hearings.

- To generate PDF case summaries and payment receipts that you can share.

- To generate AI text drafts when you request them.

- To display advertisements in the free version and to process optional premium purchases.

## 4. Data Storage and Security

### 4.1 Local Storage

- Your data is stored locally using an on-device database (Room), app preferences, and the app's private internal storage (for attached documents/photos and generated PDFs).

- Because the data lives on your device, its security also depends on your device's own lock screen and encryption. We recommend enabling a device screen lock.

### 4.2 No Cloud Backup

- LawyerKit is offline-first and does **not** upload your matters, clients, documents, or fee records to any cloud account or server. If you switch or reset your device without exporting your data, that data will not carry over.

### 4.3 Network Use

- The app uses the internet only for: serving ads, processing optional purchases, and the on-demand AI drafting feature. All such communication uses encrypted (HTTPS/TLS) connections.

## 5. Data Sharing

### 5.1 We Do Not Sell Your Data

We do not sell, rent, or trade your information.

### 5.2 Third-Party Services

The app uses the following third-party services:

### 5.3 Ads

- Free-version users see ads served by Google AdMob, which may use advertising identifiers.

- You can reset or limit your advertising ID in your device settings (Settings > Google > Ads).

- Where required, the app requests ad consent via Google's UMP consent form.

- Premium users do not see ads.

## 6. Your Professional Responsibility

LawyerKit is a personal organizational tool for legal practitioners. You are responsible for handling client information in accordance with the professional conduct, confidentiality, and data-protection rules that apply to you in your jurisdiction. AI-generated drafts are starting points only and must be reviewed and edited by you before any use, filing, or sending. LawyerKit does not provide legal advice.

## 7. Photos and Documents

- Documents and photos are added only when you explicitly capture or select them.

- They are stored in the app's private internal storage on your device.

- They are shared only when you choose to share a specific file, and are never uploaded to us or used for advertising.

- You can delete them at any time within the app.

## 8. Notifications

- The app schedules local notifications for upcoming hearings. You can disable notifications at any time in the app or your device settings.

## 9. Children's Privacy

LawyerKit is a professional tool intended for adults and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

## 10. Your Rights and Choices

- **Access & control** — all your data is visible and editable within the app.

- **Export** — you can export data (CSV) and generate PDFs for your own records.

- **Deletion** — you can delete individual records in the app. Uninstalling the app removes all locally stored data, including documents and generated files.

- **Ads** — purchasing premium removes ads; you can also reset your advertising ID in device settings.

## 11. GDPR (European Users)

Because your data is stored locally and not collected by us, you retain direct control over it. For data handled by the third-party services above (advertising, purchases, AI drafting), you may exercise your rights through those providers, and via the in-app ad-consent controls. ## 12. Data Retention

- Local data is retained on your device until you delete it or uninstall the app.

- AI drafting requests are processed to return your draft and are not retained by the app.

## 13. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by updating the "Effective Date" above and posting a notice within the app.
