## 1. Introduction
Gout Flare Tracker ("we", "our", "the app") is an offline personal health logging tool that helps you record gout flares, serum uric-acid readings, purine food intake, medications, hydration, and alcohol consumption. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, store, and protect your information when you use our mobile application.
By using Gout Flare Tracker, you agree to the collection and use of information as described in this policy.
**Privacy at a glance:** Gout Flare Tracker is an offline, local-only app. There is no account, no login, and no cloud sync. All of your health and personal data is stored only on your device and is never transmitted to us or any server. The only data that leaves your device is anonymous advertising and consent information handled by Google's advertising services (described below).
## 2. Information We Collect
### 2.1 Information You Provide
All of the following is entered by you and stored only on your device. We never receive, transmit, or have access to it:
- **Gout flare records** — affected joint, severity (1–10), start/end time, duration, notes, and suspected triggers
- **Serum uric-acid readings** — lab values (mg/dL or µmol/L), lab name, date taken, and notes
- **Purine food intake** — foods eaten, grams, estimated purine totals, and meal timing
- **Medication details** — medication name, dose, frequency, active status, and dose/adherence logs
- **Hydration logs** — water intake amounts and daily goal
- **Alcohol logs** — beer, wine, or spirits entries
- **App preferences** — units, reminder settings, and onboarding/disclaimer acceptance
### 2.2 Information Collected Automatically
We do not collect analytics, crash reports, or device information ourselves. The app contains no analytics or crash-reporting SDK. However, the advertising service we use (Google AdMob) may automatically collect:
- **Advertising identifier** and device-level ad data (for serving and limiting ads)
- **Approximate, coarse information** and ad-interaction data used by Google to serve advertisements
This data is collected and processed by Google, not by us. See Section 5.
### 2.3 Information from Third-Party Services
None. Gout Flare Tracker has no sign-in providers (no Google Sign-In, no Firebase Auth, no social login) and does not import data from any third-party account.
## 3. How We Use Your Information
Your health and personal entries are used **only on your device** to:
- Display your gout flare history, uric-acid trend chart, and logs
- Calculate daily purine intake against your targets
- Show medication reminders and track dose adherence
- Generate an optional PDF report you can choose to share with your healthcare provider
- Remember your preferences and settings
The app uses advertising and consent data (handled by Google) to:
- Display advertisements to free-tier users
- Respect your consent choices for personalized vs. non-personalized ads
- Process one-time premium purchases (handled by Google Play Billing)
## 4. Data Storage and Security
### 4.1 Local Storage
- All your health and personal data is stored locally on your device in an on-device database (Room/SQLite) and in app preferences.
- The bundled purine food reference database (425+ foods) ships inside the app and is read-only reference content — it contains no personal data.
- Generated PDF reports are written to the app's private storage and are shared only when you explicitly choose to export/share them.
- Because the app is offline and local-only, your data never leaves your device through our app.
### 4.2 Cloud Storage
Gout Flare Tracker does **not** use any cloud storage. There is no cloud backup, no cloud sync, and no remote copy of your data. We operate no servers and never receive your data.
### 4.3 Security Measures
- Your data resides in the app's private, sandboxed storage area, which other apps cannot access on a non-rooted device.
- Network communication used by the advertising and billing services uses HTTPS/TLS encryption.
- Because we hold no account and store no data on our side, there is no server-side database of your information to be breached.
## 5. Data Sharing
### 5.1 We Do NOT Sell Your Data
We do not sell, trade, or rent your personal or health information to third parties. Your health entries are never shared with advertisers or any third party.
### 5.2 Third-Party Services
The app uses the following Google services, which may collect limited data as described:
| Service | Purpose | Data Accessed | Privacy Policy |
|---------|---------|--------------|----------------|
| Google AdMob | Advertising (free tier) | Advertising identifier, ad interactions, coarse device data | [Google Privacy Policy](https://policies.google.com/privacy) |
| Google User Messaging Platform (UMP) | Ad consent management (GDPR) | Consent preferences | [Google Privacy Policy](https://policies.google.com/privacy) |
| Google Play Billing | One-time premium purchase | Purchase status / transaction token | [Google Privacy Policy](https://policies.google.com/privacy) |
We do **not** use Firebase, Google Analytics, Crashlytics, or any sign-in provider. None of your health, flare, uric-acid, food, medication, hydration, or alcohol data is shared with these services.
### 5.3 Ad Personalization
- Free-tier users see advertisements served by Google AdMob.
- AdMob may use a device advertising identifier and ad-interaction data to serve and personalize ads.
- On first launch, the app uses Google's User Messaging Platform (UMP) to request your consent for ad personalization where required.
- You can opt out of personalized ads through your device settings (Settings > Google > Ads) or by resetting your advertising ID.
- Premium (one-time purchase) users see no advertisements.
## 6. Health Data
### 6.1 Health Information
Gout Flare Tracker collects health-related information that you enter, including:
- Gout flare/attack details (joint, severity, duration, triggers)
- Serum uric-acid lab readings
- Purine food intake and dietary logs
- Medication names, doses, schedules, and adherence
- Hydration and alcohol consumption logs
### 6.2 Health Data Protection
- All health data is stored **only locally on your device**. It is never uploaded, synced, or transmitted to us or any server.
- Health data is **never** shared with advertisers, marketing partners, or any third party.
- Health data is **never** used for advertising or personalization.
- There is no cloud sync of health data — it cannot leave your device except when you personally choose to export a PDF report and share it through an app of your choosing.
### 6.3 Medical Disclaimer
Gout Flare Tracker is a personal health-logging tool and is **NOT a medical device** and **NOT** a substitute for professional medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment. Purine values are reference estimates and may vary by source and preparation. The app does not diagnose, treat, prevent, or cure gout or any disease. Always consult a qualified healthcare provider before making any decisions about your diet, medications, or treatment. You accepted this disclaimer when you first opened the app.
## 7. Photos and Images
Gout Flare Tracker does not request camera or storage-media permissions and does not capture, access, or store your photos. The only file the app generates is an optional PDF report, written to private storage and shared only at your explicit request.
## 8. Children's Privacy
Gout Flare Tracker is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided personal information through the app, please contact us so we can advise (note: because data is stored only on the device, you can also remove it by deleting the entries or uninstalling the app).
## 9. Your Rights and Choices
### 9.1 Access and Control
- You can view all of your data within the app at any time.
- You can edit or delete any entry you have created.
- You can export your data as a PDF report for your own records or to share with your doctor.
### 9.2 Data Deletion
- You can delete any individual record from within the app.
- Because all data is stored locally, **uninstalling the app permanently removes all of your data** from your device.
- We hold no copy of your data, so there is nothing for us to delete on our side.
### 9.3 Notifications
- The app may send medication and reminder notifications. You can disable notifications at any time through the app's Settings or your device's notification settings.
### 9.4 Ad Preferences
- A one-time premium purchase removes all advertisements.
- You can opt out of personalized ads via your device settings (Settings > Google > Ads).
- You can revisit your consent choices via the privacy/consent options in the app where available.
## 10. GDPR Compliance (European Users)
If you are located in the European Economic Area (EEA) or the UK, you have the right to access, rectify, erase, restrict, port, and object to the processing of your personal data. Because Gout Flare Tracker stores all of your data locally on your device and we hold no copy, you exercise most of these rights directly within the app (view, edit, delete, export) and by uninstalling.
The app uses Google's User Messaging Platform (UMP) to obtain your consent for personalized advertising in compliance with GDPR. For any questions about your rights, contact us at muhammadilyas15@gmail.com.
## 11. Data Retention
- Your local data is retained on your device until you delete it or uninstall the app.
- We retain no personal or health data, as none is transmitted to us.
- Advertising and consent data is retained by Google per its own retention policies.
- Purchase records are retained by Google Play per Google's policies.
## 12. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes by:
- Updating the "Effective Date" at the top of this policy
- Posting the updated policy at its public URL
Your continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
