Fishing Log ("we", "our", "the app") is a personal fishing journal and catch tracking application for Android. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, store, and protect your information when you use our mobile application.

By using Fishing Log, you agree to the collection and use of information as described in this policy.

## 2. Information We Collect

### 2.1 Information You Provide

When you use Fishing Log, you may enter the following data:

- Fishing catch details (species, weight, length, bait, technique, weather conditions, water temperature, date, time, notes)

- Fishing spot information (name, type, address, GPS coordinates, notes, favorite status)

- Trip records (date, catch count, best catch, weather notes, notes)

- Gear and tackle inventory (name, category, brand, notes)

- Catch photos captured via the device camera

All of this data is entered voluntarily by you and stored locally on your device.

### 2.2 Information Collected Automatically

- **Device information** (model, OS version, app version) for crash reporting via Firebase Crashlytics

- **App usage analytics** (screens visited, feature usage) via Firebase Analytics

- **Advertising identifiers** (device advertising ID) for serving personalized advertisements via Google AdMob

- **GPS location** (only when you explicitly tap "Get Location" to save a fishing spot — never collected in the background)

### 2.3 Purchase Information

- If you subscribe to Premium or make an in-app purchase, Google Play processes the transaction. We receive confirmation of purchase status but do not access your payment details (credit card, billing address).

## 3. How We Use Your Information

We use collected information to:

- Provide core app functionality (catch logging, spot tracking, trip journaling, gear management)

- Generate fishing reports and analytics (catch statistics, species distribution, monthly trends)

- Save GPS coordinates for your fishing spots when you request it

- Display relevant advertisements to free-tier users

- Improve app stability and fix crashes (via Crashlytics)

- Understand app usage patterns to improve features (via Firebase Analytics)

- Process Premium subscription and in-app purchases

## 4. Data Storage and Security

### 4.1 Local Storage

- All your fishing data (catches, spots, trips, gear) is stored locally on your device using a Room database

- Catch photos are stored in the app's private internal storage

- App preferences (theme, units, premium status) are stored in SharedPreferences

- No fishing data is transmitted to any server

### 4.2 Security Measures

- All network communication (ads, analytics, crash reports) uses HTTPS/TLS encryption

- Your fishing data never leaves your device — it is not uploaded to any cloud service

- Uninstalling the app permanently removes all locally stored data

We do not sell, trade, or rent your personal information or fishing data to third parties.

- Free-tier users see advertisements served by Google AdMob

## 6. Location Data

### 6.1 How We Use Location

- GPS location is accessed **only when you explicitly tap the "Get Location" button** while adding or editing a fishing spot

- Location is used solely to save the GPS coordinates (latitude/longitude) of your fishing spot

- Location is **never collected in the background** or without your action

- Location data is stored locally on your device only

### 6.2 Location Permissions

- The app requests `ACCESS_FINE_LOCATION` and `ACCESS_COARSE_LOCATION` permissions

- You can deny these permissions and still use the app — you simply won't be able to auto-capture GPS coordinates (you can enter them manually)

- You can revoke location permission at any time via your device Settings

## 7. Photos and Camera

- The app requests `CAMERA` permission to let you photograph your catches

- Photos are captured only when you explicitly choose to take or select one

- Photos are stored in the app's private internal storage on your device

- Photos are never uploaded to any server or shared with third parties

- You can delete photos at any time by editing or deleting the associated catch

## 8. Children's Privacy

Fishing Log is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we discover that a child under 13 has provided us with personal information, we will delete it promptly.

## 9. Your Rights and Choices

### 9.1 Access and Control

- You can view all your data within the app at any time

- You can edit or delete any catch, spot, trip, or gear entry

- All data is under your direct control on your device

### 9.2 Data Deletion

- Delete individual entries (catches, spots, trips, gear) from within the app

- Uninstalling the app permanently removes all locally stored data, photos, and preferences

- No cloud data exists to delete — everything is local

### 9.3 Ad Preferences

- Premium subscription removes all advertisements

- You can opt out of personalized ads via device settings (Settings > Google > Ads)

## 10. GDPR Compliance (European Users)

If you are located in the European Economic Area (EEA), you have additional rights:

- **Right to access** — request a copy of your data

- **Right to rectification** — correct inaccurate data

- **Right to erasure** — request deletion of your data

- **Right to restrict processing** — limit how we use your data

- **Right to data portability** — receive your data in a portable format

- **Right to object** — object to data processing for marketing

The app uses Google's User Messaging Platform (UMP) to obtain consent for data processing and personalized advertising in compliance with GDPR.

- Local data is retained on your device until you delete it or uninstall the app

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes by:

- Updating the "Effective Date" at the top of this policy

- Posting a notice within the app
