## 1. Introduction
CustodyLog ("we", "our", "the app") is a private, one-sided documentation tool for separated and co-parenting families. It lets you keep a dated record of custody exchanges, incidents, parenting time, child-related expenses, and related events. This Privacy Policy explains how your information is handled when you use the app.
CustodyLog is designed to be private by default: the records you create are stored **only on your device**. There is no account, no sign-up, and no cloud service that holds your family's data.
By using CustodyLog, you agree to the handling of information as described in this policy.
## 2. Information We Collect
### 2.1 Information You Provide (stored only on your device)
All of the following is entered by you and stored locally on your device. It is never transmitted to us or to any server:
- **Child details** you choose to add — name, date of birth, and an optional photo.
- **Entries** — event type (exchange, incident, missed visit, expense, communication, medical, school, milestone), the date/time of the event, a title, free-text notes, an exchange punctuality flag, and optional photos.
- **Expenses** — amount, currency, category, the other parent's share percentage, reimbursement status, an optional receipt photo, and notes.
- **Parenting-time data** — a planned weekly schedule and the actual overnights you log on the calendar.
### 2.2 Information Collected Automatically
- **Diagnostics** — if a crash occurs, anonymized crash logs and device state (e.g., device model, OS version) may be collected to help us fix problems (Firebase Crashlytics).
- **App usage analytics** — aggregate, non-identifying usage information such as which screens are opened, to help improve the app (Firebase Analytics).
- **Advertising identifiers** — for users on the free tier, Google AdMob may access your device's advertising identifier and ad-interaction data to serve advertisements.
### 2.3 Information from Third-Party Services
CustodyLog does **not** use any sign-in provider and does not import your email, contacts, or social profile. No such information is collected.
## 3. How We Use Your Information
- To provide the core functionality of the app (creating, viewing, and organizing your records) — this happens entirely on your device.
- To generate the reports and exports (PDF and CSV) that you choose to create and share.
- To display advertisements to free-tier users.
- To process a one-time or subscription purchase that upgrades you to the premium version (via Google Play Billing).
- To diagnose crashes and improve app performance and stability.
## 4. Data Storage and Security
### 4.1 Local Storage
- Your records are stored locally on your device in the app's private database and in the app's private internal storage (for photos).
- This data is not accessible to other apps on your device.
- The app does **not** provide cloud backup or synchronization. Your records are not uploaded to any server operated by us.
- **Because your data is stored only on your device, uninstalling the app or clearing its data will permanently delete your records. There is no cloud copy to restore from. Please export a PDF or CSV backup before uninstalling if you wish to keep your records.**
### 4.2 App Lock
- You may optionally protect the app with your device's biometric authentication (fingerprint/face) or device PIN. Authentication is performed by your device's operating system. The app does **not** access, collect, or store your biometric data.
### 4.3 Security Measures
- Any network communication (advertising, diagnostics, billing) uses HTTPS/TLS encryption.
- Your documented records never leave your device except in the reports/exports you explicitly generate and share.
## 5. Data Sharing
### 5.1 We Do NOT Sell Your Data
We do not sell, trade, or rent your personal information to third parties. We never share the records you create with anyone; you share them only when you choose to export or send a report yourself.
### 5.2 Third-Party Services
The app uses the following third-party services, which may collect limited data as described:
| Service | Purpose | Data Accessed | Privacy Policy |
|---------|---------|--------------|----------------|
| Google AdMob | Advertising (free tier) | Advertising identifier, ad interactions | [Google Privacy Policy](https://policies.google.com/privacy) |
| Google User Messaging Platform (UMP) | Ad consent | Consent preferences | [Google Privacy Policy](https://policies.google.com/privacy) |
| Firebase Analytics | App improvement | Aggregate usage, device info | [Firebase Privacy](https://firebase.google.com/support/privacy) |
| Firebase Crashlytics | Crash reporting | Crash logs, device state | [Firebase Privacy](https://firebase.google.com/support/privacy) |
| Google Play Billing | Purchases | Purchase and subscription status | [Google Privacy Policy](https://policies.google.com/privacy) |
The records you create (child details, entries, notes, photos, expenses, parenting time) are **not** shared with any of these services.
### 5.3 Ad Personalization
- Free-tier users see advertisements served by Google AdMob, which may use your device's advertising identifier.
- The app uses Google's User Messaging Platform to request your consent for personalized advertising where required.
- You can reset or limit ad personalization in your device settings (Settings > Google > Ads).
- Premium users see no advertisements.
## 6. Photos and Images
- Photos are captured or selected only when you explicitly choose to add one (for a child, an entry, or a receipt).
- Photos are stored in the app's private internal storage on your device.
- Photos are never uploaded to us or to any third party. They are included only in a report you choose to export and share.
- The app does not request the `CAMERA` permission; when you take a photo, your device's camera app handles the capture.
- You can delete any photo at any time from within the app.
## 7. Children's Privacy
CustodyLog is intended for use by adults (parents and guardians) and is not directed at children under the age of 13. Any information about a child (such as a name, date of birth, or photo) is entered by the adult user for their own documentation purposes and is stored only on that user's device. We do not knowingly collect personal information directly from children.
## 8. Your Rights and Choices
### 8.1 Access and Control
- You can view all of your records within the app at any time.
- You can edit or delete any record you have entered. (Note: to preserve an accurate record, entries lock after 24 hours; changes after that are added as a dated amendment rather than overwriting the original. You may still delete an entry entirely.)
- You can export your data as a PDF report or as CSV files for your own records.
### 8.2 Data Deletion
- You can delete individual records within the app.
- Uninstalling the app, or clearing its data in your device settings, permanently removes all locally stored records.
- Because we do not store your records on any server, there is no separate cloud-deletion request needed.
### 8.3 Ad Preferences
- Upgrading to premium removes all advertisements.
- You can opt out of personalized ads via your device settings.
## 9. GDPR Compliance (European Users)
If you are located in the European Economic Area (EEA), you have rights including access, rectification, erasure, restriction of processing, data portability, and objection. Because your records are stored only on your device and are under your direct control, you can exercise most of these rights yourself within the app (view, edit, export, delete).
For advertising and diagnostics, the app uses Google's User Messaging Platform (UMP) to obtain consent in compliance with GDPR. To ask questions about your rights, contact us at muhammadilyas15@gmail.com.
## 10. Data Retention
- Records you create are retained on your device until you delete them or uninstall the app.
- Diagnostics (crash reports) are retained per Google's standard policies (approximately 90 days).
- Analytics data is retained per Google's standard retention policies (up to 14 months).
## 11. Legal Disclaimer
CustodyLog is a personal documentation tool. It does not provide legal advice, and it does not guarantee that any record it produces will be admissible in any court or legal proceeding — admissibility is determined solely by the relevant court or authority. Please keep your entries accurate and factual.
## 12. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes by updating the "Effective Date" above and, where appropriate, posting a notice within the app. Your continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
