This Privacy Policy describes how Shopkeeper Sales Log ("the App", "we", "our") collects, uses, and protects your information. We are committed to safeguarding your privacy and being transparent about data practices.
The App is a sales tracking and bookkeeping tool designed for shopkeepers and small business owners. It helps you record sales, manage products, track customer credit (udhar), and generate business reports.

## 2. Information We Collect
### 2.1 Business Data You Enter (Stored Locally)
All business data you enter is stored **exclusively on your device** using a local database. We do **not** have access to this data. This includes:
- **Product information:** Product names, prices, cost prices, categories, and units
- **Sales records:** Transaction details, quantities, amounts, payment methods (cash/credit/mobile), dates, and notes
- **Customer information:** Customer names and phone numbers (for credit/udhar tracking)
- **Credit (udhar) entries:** Outstanding balances, payment records, and payment descriptions
- **Daily summaries:** Aggregated daily sales totals, profit calculations, and transaction counts
- **Shop settings:** Your shop name and preferred currency
**Important:** This data never leaves your device unless you explicitly choose to export or share it (see Section 5).
### 2.2 Financial Data
The App processes sensitive financial data including sales amounts, cost prices, profit margins, and outstanding credit balances. All financial data is stored **locally on your device only**. We do not collect, transmit, or have access to your financial information.
### 2.3 Customer Data Responsibility
When you store customer names and phone numbers for credit/udhar tracking, **you act as the data controller** for your customers' personal information. You are responsible for:
- Obtaining appropriate consent from your customers before storing their information
- Ensuring the accuracy of customer data you enter
- Deleting customer data when it is no longer needed
- Complying with applicable data protection laws in your jurisdiction
### 2.4 Automatically Collected Data
The following data is collected automatically through third-party services:
- **Crash reports** (via Firebase Crashlytics): Device model, OS version, app version, and crash stack traces. This data is anonymized and used solely to identify and fix bugs.
- **Usage analytics** (via Firebase Analytics): Anonymous usage patterns such as screen views and feature usage. No personally identifiable information is collected.
- **Advertising data** (via Google AdMob): Ad interaction data, device identifiers for ad personalization (subject to your consent). See Section 4 for details.
### 2.5 Information We Do NOT Collect
- We do **not** collect your location or GPS data
- We do **not** access your camera, photos, or gallery
- We do **not** collect health or biometric data
- We do **not** collect contacts from your phone's address book
- We do **not** collect your personal financial accounts or bank information

## 4. Advertising
The App displays advertisements (banner, interstitial, and rewarded ads) to users on the free tier through **Google AdMob**.
- AdMob may collect device identifiers and ad interaction data
- You can control ad personalization through your device settings or the consent dialog shown when you first open the App
- Premium users do not see any advertisements
- We use the Google User Messaging Platform (UMP) to collect your consent preferences for personalized advertising in compliance with GDPR and other regulations

## 5. Data Sharing and Disclosure
We do **not** sell, trade, or rent your personal information.
Your data may be shared only in the following circumstances:
### 5.1 WhatsApp Sharing (User-Initiated)
The App allows you to send payment reminders to customers via WhatsApp and share daily sales reports. This sharing is **entirely user-initiated** -- the App never sends messages automatically. When you choose to share:
- The App opens WhatsApp with a pre-formatted message
- You have full control to review, edit, or cancel before sending
- The data shared is limited to what is displayed in the reminder or report
### 5.2 CSV Export (User-Initiated)
You can export your sales data as CSV files for your own records. This export is entirely under your control and the file is saved to your device or shared via your chosen app.
### 5.3 Daily Report Sharing (User-Initiated)
You can share daily sales summaries as text via any sharing app on your device. This is entirely voluntary and user-initiated.
### 5.4 Third-Party Services
We use the following third-party services that may collect data as described in their respective privacy policies:

## 6. Data Storage and Security
- All business data (products, sales, customers, credit entries) is stored **locally on your device** in an encrypted SQLite database
- No cloud storage or synchronization is used in the current version
- If you uninstall the App, all locally stored data will be permanently deleted
- We recommend regularly exporting your data (CSV) as a backup

## 7. In-App Purchases
The App offers Premium subscriptions (monthly, yearly) and a lifetime purchase through **Google Play Billing**. Purchase transactions are processed entirely by Google Play. We do not collect or store your payment information (credit card numbers, bank details, etc.). We only receive confirmation of your subscription status from Google Play.

## 8. Notifications
The App may send local notifications for:
- **Daily sales summaries** at your configured time
- **Credit payment reminders**
These notifications are generated locally on your device and do not involve any server communication. On Android 13 and above, the App will request your permission before sending notifications. You can disable notifications at any time through the App settings or your device settings.

The App is not directed at children under 13 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided personal information through the App, please contact us so we can take appropriate action.

## 10. Your Rights (GDPR and Other Regulations)
Regardless of your location, you have the following rights regarding your data:
- **Access:** All your data is stored locally on your device and is fully accessible to you at all times
- **Portability:** You can export your data as CSV files at any time
- **Deletion:** You can delete individual records within the App, or uninstall the App to delete all data permanently
- **Consent withdrawal:** You can withdraw advertising consent at any time through the App's consent settings or your device settings
- **Opt-out of analytics:** You can opt out of Firebase Analytics by disabling analytics collection in your device settings
Since all business data is stored locally and we do not maintain any copy of your data on our servers, you have complete control over your information at all times.
