Muhammad Ilyas ("we", "us", or "the developer") built the **Home Inventory** app as a commercial application with optional premium features. This Privacy Policy explains what information the app handles, how it is used, and the choices you have.
By installing and using Home Inventory, you agree to the practices described in this policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the app.
---
## 1. Summary (Plain English)
- Home Inventory is a **local-only** application. All your inventory data — items, rooms, photos, prices, and insurance claims — is stored **only on your device**.
- **No user account is required.** You do not sign in, and we do not collect your name, email, phone number, or address.
- **Your data never leaves your device**, except for the limited diagnostic and advertising data described below, which is handled by trusted third-party SDKs (Google AdMob, Google Analytics for Firebase, and Firebase Crashlytics).
- The app uses the **camera** only when you choose to photograph an inventory item. Photos are saved to the app's private internal storage and are not uploaded anywhere.
- The app shows **advertisements** on content screens and offers optional **in-app purchases** (monthly, yearly, and lifetime premium plans) to remove ads and unlock features.
---
## 2. Information Stored On Your Device
Home Inventory stores the following information in a local Room (SQLite) database on your device. This data is **never transmitted to us or to any server**:
### 2.1 Inventory Items
For each item you add, the app may store:
- Item name, category, brand, model number, serial number
- Room / location assignment
- Purchase date, purchase price, current estimated value
- Condition, quantity, description, notes
- Warranty expiry date
- Insured status (yes/no)
- Up to two photo file paths (photos saved to app-private storage)
- Created-at and updated-at timestamps
### 2.2 Rooms
- Room name, icon identifier, created-at timestamp
### 2.3 Insurance Claims
- Linked item ID, claim date, description, claim amount, claim status, created-at timestamp
### 2.4 App Preferences
- Selected currency (e.g., USD, EUR, GBP, PKR, INR, AED, SAR, CAD, AUD, TRY)
- Theme preference (light / dark / system)
- Premium/subscription entitlement flags (cached locally from Google Play)
All of the above is stored **only on your device** in the app's private storage area. Uninstalling the app permanently deletes this database.
---
## 3. Financial Information
Because this app tracks household inventory, you may enter **financial information** such as:
- Item **purchase prices**
- Item **current / replacement values**
- **Insurance claim amounts**
**This financial information is treated as local-only data.** It is stored exclusively in the on-device Room database and is **never transmitted to us, to any server, or to any third party**. It is not shared with AdMob, Firebase, or any analytics provider. It exists solely to help you manage your own household inventory and insurance records. We have no access to these figures.
---
## 4. Photos and Camera
Home Inventory requests the **CAMERA** permission so you can photograph your household items directly from the add/edit screen. How photos are handled:
- Photos are captured using your device camera only when **you** tap the camera button.
- Captured images are written to the app's **private internal storage** (sandboxed to this app) and referenced from the Room database by file path.
- Photos are **never uploaded** to any server, cloud service, or third party.
- Photos are only displayed inside the app (using the Glide image-loading library, which runs entirely on-device).
- If you share an item or export data via Android's share sheet, photos are shared via Android's secure FileProvider and you explicitly choose the destination app.
- Uninstalling Home Inventory deletes all stored photos.
You can revoke the CAMERA permission at any time from Android Settings → Apps → Home Inventory → Permissions. The app will continue to work without photo capture.
---
## 5. Permissions We Request
| Permission | Why it is needed |
|---|---|
| `INTERNET` | Required to load advertisements, fetch the UMP consent form, deliver Firebase Crashlytics/Analytics data, and process Google Play Billing purchases. |
| `CAMERA` | Required only when you choose to photograph an inventory item. Optional — the app works without it. |
| `VIBRATE` | Used for subtle haptic feedback on button presses. |
| `com.android.vending.BILLING` | Required by the Google Play Billing Library to process optional in-app purchases (monthly, yearly, and lifetime premium plans). |
The app does **not** request access to your contacts, location, microphone, SMS, call logs, calendar, accounts, or external storage.
---
## 6. Third-Party SDKs and Services
Home Inventory integrates the following third-party libraries. Each has its own privacy policy which governs any data it collects independently of us:
### 6.1 Google AdMob (Ads)
- **Purpose:** Displays banner advertisements on content screens (dashboard, room list, item list, item detail, add/edit item, insurance report).
- **Data handled:** AdMob may collect advertising identifier, approximate IP-based location, device information, and ad interaction events in accordance with Google's policies.
- **Consent:** On first launch (and anytime thereafter from Settings), users in applicable regions are shown the **Google User Messaging Platform (UMP)** consent form to accept or refuse personalized ads in line with GDPR and similar laws.
- **Policy:** https://policies.google.com/privacy
### 6.2 Firebase Crashlytics (Crash Reporting)
- **Purpose:** Records crash reports so we can fix bugs.
- **Data handled:** Crash stack traces, device model, OS version, app version, and anonymous installation identifiers. No personal data, inventory data, or photos are ever sent.
- **Policy:** https://firebase.google.com/support/privacy
### 6.3 Google Analytics for Firebase (Analytics)
- **Purpose:** Aggregated, anonymous usage analytics (screen views, session counts, feature usage) to help us improve the app.
- **Data handled:** Anonymous device identifiers, events, approximate region. No inventory data is ever included.
- **Policy:** https://firebase.google.com/support/privacy
### 6.4 Google Play Billing Library
- **Purpose:** Processes optional in-app purchases (monthly / yearly subscriptions and lifetime purchase) to unlock premium features.
- **Data handled:** Google Play handles the transaction directly. We receive only a purchase token and entitlement status; we never see your payment card, billing address, or Google account credentials.
- **Policy:** https://policies.google.com/privacy
### 6.5 Google Play In-App Update
- **Purpose:** Prompts you to install new versions of Home Inventory when available. No personal data is collected by the app through this SDK.
### 6.6 Other Libraries (On-Device Only)
- **Room** (local database), **Glide** (on-device image loading), **MPAndroidChart** (on-device chart rendering), **Material Components**, **AndroidX**, **Guava**, **Gson**, **WorkManager**, **SDP/SSP**. These run entirely on your device and do not transmit data.
---
## 7. How We Use Information
- **Inventory, room, claim, and photo data** is used solely to display and manage your household inventory inside the app, on your device.
- **Financial figures** (purchase price, current value, claim amount) are used only for your on-device reports, totals, and insurance summaries.
- **Crash and analytics data** is used only to diagnose bugs and improve app quality in aggregate.
- **Advertising data** is used by Google AdMob to serve ads (personalized or non-personalized depending on your UMP consent).
- **Purchase tokens** are used only to verify your premium entitlement with Google Play.
We do **not** sell your data. We do **not** share, rent, or trade your data with any party other than the SDK providers listed above for the specific technical purposes described.
---
## 8. Data Retention and Deletion
- **On-device data** (items, rooms, insurance claims, photos, preferences) is retained on your device until you delete it from within the app or uninstall the app.
- **Uninstalling the app** permanently removes the local Room database, all stored photos, and all app preferences.
- **Crashlytics and Analytics data** is retained by Google according to their standard retention schedules.
- Because we do **not** have user accounts or a server-side database, we hold **no personal profile** about you to delete on request. To remove all your inventory data, simply delete items from the app or uninstall it.
---
## 9. Children's Privacy
Home Inventory is a general-audience productivity app and is **not directed at children under 13**. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided data through the app, contact us at muhammadilyas15@gmail.com and we will assist within the limits of the fact that all data is stored locally on the child's device.
---
## 10. Security
- All inventory data is stored in Android's **app-private storage sandbox**, which is inaccessible to other apps on non-rooted devices.
- Photos are stored in the app's private internal directory and shared only via Android's secure **FileProvider** when you explicitly tap Share.
- Network connections for ads, analytics, crash reporting, and billing use **HTTPS/TLS** encryption managed by the respective Google SDKs.
- No authentication server, no cloud database, and no remote API means there is no server-side attack surface for your inventory data.
No method of electronic storage is 100% secure, but we follow standard Android best practices to protect on-device data.
---
## 11. Your Choices and Rights
- **Ad personalization:** Open Settings → Privacy Options (or re-launch after clearing app data) to re-open the Google UMP consent form and change your choice.
- **Camera permission:** Revoke anytime from Android Settings → Apps → Home Inventory → Permissions.
- **Analytics / Crashlytics:** You can opt out at the device level through Google Settings → Ads, and through Firebase's device-level controls.
- **Delete your data:** Delete items individually inside the app, or uninstall the app to remove everything.
- **Cancel subscriptions:** Manage or cancel monthly/yearly plans via Google Play Store → Subscriptions. Lifetime purchases are one-time and non-recurring.
Depending on your region (EU/UK, California, etc.), you may have additional rights under **GDPR**, **UK GDPR**, or **CCPA**, including the right to access, correct, or delete personal data held about you, and to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority. Because Home Inventory holds no personal data on a server, most of these rights are automatically fulfilled by your direct control of on-device data.
---
## 12. International Users
Home Inventory is available worldwide. If you use the app outside the developer's country of residence, note that the limited data handled by third-party SDKs (AdMob, Firebase) may be processed on Google servers located in the United States or other countries. These SDKs operate under Google's global privacy framework.
---
## 13. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in the app, third-party SDKs, or legal requirements. The "Last Updated" date at the top of this document will change when we do. Significant changes will be announced within the app or on the store listing. Continued use of the app after an update constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
