### 2.1 Information You Provide
When using the app, you may voluntarily provide the following information:
- **Resume/CV data:** Full name, email address, phone number, physical address, city, country, LinkedIn URL, GitHub URL, personal website, professional summary, work experience (job titles, companies, dates, responsibilities), education (institutions, degrees, fields of study, GPA), skills, projects, certifications, and languages
- **Cover letter content:** Job titles, company names, job descriptions, and letter content
- **Job application data:** Company names, roles, application status, salary ranges, job URLs, follow-up dates, and notes
- **Interview data:** Job titles, company names, your answers to interview questions
- **Company research queries:** Company names you research
- **Contact form data:** Subject and message content when contacting support
### 2.2 Information Collected Automatically
- **Device information:** Device model, manufacturer, OS version, and SDK version (for crash reporting and support emails)
- **App usage analytics:** Screens visited, features used, and general interaction patterns (via Firebase Analytics)
- **Advertising identifiers:** Device advertising ID for serving relevant ads (free tier only)
- **Crash data:** Stack traces, device state, and error logs when the app crashes (via Firebase Crashlytics)

- **Google Sign-In:** If you sign in, we receive your email address, display name, and profile photo from your Google account

- Generate AI-powered cover letters, interview questions, professional summaries, and company research using Google Gemini AI
- Score your interview practice answers and provide AI feedback
- Analyze your resume for ATS (Applicant Tracking System) compatibility
- Track your job applications, statuses, and follow-up reminders
- Sync your data across devices when you sign in (cloud backup/restore)
- Send follow-up reminder notifications for job applications
- Display advertisements to free tier users
- Improve app performance, fix crashes, and enhance features
- Process premium subscription and lifetime purchases
## 4. AI Data Processing
### 4.1 Google Gemini AI
CareerKit AI uses Google's Gemini AI to generate content. When you use AI-powered features, the following data may be sent to Google's Gemini API:
- Resume content (for cover letter generation, bullet point enhancement, summary generation, and skill suggestions)
- Job titles, company names, and job descriptions (for cover letter and interview question generation)
- Your interview answers (for AI scoring and feedback)
- Company names (for company research)
### 4.2 AI Data Handling
- Data sent to Gemini AI is processed according to [Google's AI Privacy Policy](https://policies.google.com/privacy)
- We do not store AI-generated prompts on our servers — they are sent directly from your device to Google's API
- AI responses are saved locally on your device (and optionally to your cloud backup)
## 5. Data Storage and Security
### 5.1 Local Storage
- Your data is stored locally on your device using a Room (SQLite) database
- App preferences (theme, premium status, sync settings) are stored in SharedPreferences
- Generated PDF files are stored in the app's private cache directory
- Local data persists until you delete it or uninstall the app
### 5.2 Cloud Storage
- If you sign in with Google and enable cloud sync, your cover letters and job applications are synced to Google Firebase Firestore servers
- Cloud data is encrypted in transit (TLS/SSL) and at rest
- Data is isolated per user account and only accessible with your credentials
- Cloud sync is optional — the app works fully offline without sign-in
### 5.3 Security Measures
- All network communication uses HTTPS/TLS encryption
- Cloud data is protected by Firebase security rules (user-scoped access only)
- Authentication via Google Sign-In (industry-standard OAuth 2.0)
- No passwords are stored by the app (authentication is delegated to Google)
- API keys are stored securely in the build configuration, not in source code

- When you export a resume or cover letter as PDF, the system share chooser allows you to send the file via email, messaging, or file storage apps
- Files are shared only when you explicitly choose to share them
- Shared files may contain personal information from your resume or cover letter
### 6.4 Ad Personalization
- Free tier users see advertisements served by Google AdMob
- AdMob may use device identifiers and usage data for ad personalization
- You can opt out of personalized ads through your device settings
- The app uses Google's User Messaging Platform (UMP) to obtain ad consent
- Premium subscribers see no advertisements
## 7. Children's Privacy
CareerKit AI is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we discover that a child under 13 has provided us with personal information, we will delete it promptly.
## 8. Your Rights and Choices
### 8.1 Access and Control
- You can view all your data within the app at any time
- You can edit or delete any resume, cover letter, application, interview session, or company research entry
- You can export your resumes and cover letters as PDF for your records
### 8.2 Account and Data Deletion
- You can sign out at any time from Settings
- You can delete your cloud data from within the app (Settings > Delete Account Data)
- Uninstalling the app removes all locally stored data

### 8.3 Notifications
- Follow-up reminder notifications can be controlled through the app
- You can disable all notifications through your device Settings
### 8.4 Ad Preferences
- Premium subscription removes all advertisements
- You can opt out of personalized ads via device settings (Settings > Google > Ads)

If you are located in the European Economic Area (EEA), you have additional rights:

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes by:
