# Privacy Policy for Painter Estimator

## 1. Introduction

Painter Estimator ("we", "our", "the app") is an offline paint estimating, job and invoice manager for painting contractors. It provides a free paint-quantity calculator plus tools to build estimates, track jobs, manage customers and materials, and generate estimate and invoice PDFs. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, store, and protect your information when you use our mobile application.

By using Painter Estimator, you agree to the collection and use of information as described in this policy.

## 2. Information We Collect

### 2.1 Information You Provide

All of this information is entered by you and stored locally on your device:

- Business profile: business name, address, phone, logo image, payment instructions, default tax percentage

- Customer records: customer name, phone / WhatsApp number, email, address, notes

- Jobs and estimates: job title, description, schedule, status, room dimensions, paint type/surface/coats, labour time, tax, discount

- Materials: material name, unit, cost price and sell price

- Invoices and payments: amounts, payment method, payment dates

- Photos: before, after and receipt images you choose to attach to a job

The app does **not** require an account, sign-in, name, or email to function.

### 2.2 Information Collected Automatically

- **Advertising identifier and ad interactions** — used by Google AdMob to serve ads to free users

- **Approximate location** — may be inferred by Google AdMob from your IP/device for ad relevance (the app itself does not request or use GPS location and declares no location permission)

- **Basic device information** — used by the advertising SDK for ad delivery and fraud prevention

### 2.3 Information from Third-Party Services

Painter Estimator does not use any sign-in provider and does not receive data from third-party identity services.

## 3. How We Use Your Information

We use the information to:

- Provide the core app features: paint calculation, estimates, job tracking, invoicing and reporting

- Generate estimate and invoice PDFs that you choose to share

- Send local reminder notifications for scheduled jobs and a foreground notification while the job timer runs

- Display advertisements to free users

- Process your one-time Premium purchase through Google Play Billing

## 4. Data Storage and Security

### 4.1 Local Storage

- All app data (customers, jobs, rooms, estimates, materials, invoices, payments) is stored **locally on your device** in a private Room database.

- Business profile and preferences are stored in local SharedPreferences.

- Photos you attach are stored in the app's private internal storage.

- **No app data is transmitted to us or synced to any cloud server.** The app has no account system and no cloud backup.

### 4.2 Cloud Storage

Not applicable. Painter Estimator does not upload your business, customer, job, or photo data to any server.

### 4.3 Security Measures

- Your data remains within the app's private storage sandbox on your device.

- Advertising and billing network communication uses HTTPS/TLS encryption.

- Because there is no account or cloud copy, your records are only as accessible as your physical device.

## 5. Data Sharing

### 5.1 We Do NOT Sell Your Data

We do not sell, trade, or rent your personal information to third parties.

We use the following third-party services:

When you share an estimate or invoice PDF, it is sent only to the app you choose (WhatsApp, email, etc.) at your direction.

### 5.3 Ad Personalization

- Free tier users see advertisements served by Google AdMob.

- AdMob may use device identifiers and usage data for ad personalization.

- The app uses Google's UMP to request your consent for personalized advertising where required.

- You can opt out of personalized ads through your device settings (Settings > Google > Ads).

- Premium users see no advertisements.

## 6. Photos and Images

- Photos are captured or selected only when you explicitly choose to add them to a job (before/after/receipt images) or set a business logo.

- Photos are stored in the app's private internal storage on your device.

- Photos are never uploaded to us, shared with third parties, or used for advertising.

- You can delete photos at any time from within the app.

## 7. Children's Privacy

Painter Estimator is a business tool intended for professional use and is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

## 8. Your Rights and Choices

### 8.1 Access and Control

- You can view, edit, or delete any data you have entered, at any time, within the app.

- Premium users can export estimates and jobs to CSV, and generate PDF documents, for their own records.

### 8.2 Data Deletion

- Deleting a record (customer, job, material, etc.) in the app removes it from the local database.

- **Uninstalling the app permanently removes all locally stored data**, including photos.

- Because we hold no server-side copy of your data, there is nothing stored with us to request deletion of.

### 8.3 Notifications

- You can disable job reminders and timer notifications at any time through your device Settings.

### 8.4 Ad Preferences

- Purchasing the one-time Premium unlock removes all advertisements.

- You can opt out of personalized ads via device settings (Settings > Google > Ads).

## 9. GDPR Compliance (European Users)

If you are located in the European Economic Area (EEA), you have rights of access, rectification, erasure, restriction, portability and objection. Because your app data is stored only on your own device, you can exercise most of these rights directly within the app (view, edit, delete) or by uninstalling. The app uses Google's User Messaging Platform (UMP) to obtain consent for personalized advertising in compliance with GDPR. ## 10. Data Retention

- Local data is retained until you delete it or uninstall the app.

- We retain no data on our own servers.

- Advertising data is retained per Google's standard retention policies.

## 11. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes by updating the "Effective Date" at the top of this policy. Your continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.

## 12. Disclaimer

Painter Estimator generates estimates and invoices for record-keeping and informal quoting only. Paint-quantity calculations are approximations — actual coverage varies by surface, application, and product. Tax compliance and statutory invoice formats vary by jurisdiction; consult a qualified accountant before using these documents for tax filing.
