Sudoku crept into my heart stealthily. I'd never say it out loud, but when I first got these kittens, I had a favorite and it was Kakuro. I just couldn't help but cuddle her... and Sudoku kept scurrying away from me. Until I put on my Oodie. Sudoku cannot resist my Oodie.
It was 100+ degrees last week, but I still put that Oodie on every morning and evening. Sudoku could be playing or napping... but if I put that Oodie on in front of him, he'd crawl up and bury himself in the hoodie of my Oodie.
One of my friends asked if her daughter could volunteer to help the kittens, so we spent an evening deep cleaning the kitten room. As a reward, she got to spend time with my kittens. Sudoku wasn't sure about her and kept scooting away to look at her from afar.... so I told her to put on the Oodie. Sudoku's little eyes started to shine brightly and he leapt onto her, climbed up the oodie, and snuggled in, purring loudly in her ear. When it was time for her to go and she had to put him down, he immediately jumped back up, eyes on the oodie prize.
A few days later, more kids visited with the same results... Sudoku wasn't that interested until the Oodie was on.
I wish I could demand that his future owner buy an Oodie. I can't... but here is the link if you're the future owner and you love your new kitten enough!! I love cuddly kittens, and Sudoku in my oodie is just my favorite way to unwind from a long day!
I also believe this is one of the best kitten pictures I've ever taken.
Sudoku is very playful and his little face is so endearing...
7/24/21 Update
The past 2 months have been a whirlwind and my best laid plans to catch up on blogging were defeated... partially by my tendency to volunteer or agree to do lots of things for lots of people... and partially because the carb and puzzle litters have had many health issues.
But even when I am home and have time to blog, Sudoku makes it difficult. He still LOVES the Oodie and gets shiny eyes when I take it out, but he's decided most anything fluffy-plush will do, including my fluffy throw blanket or the under side of the dog bed. If I crawl into bed, he dashes up to make biscuits near my face while nursing on my blanket. He almost always chooses fluff for nap time.
Sudoku's sister, Tetris, got very sick after vaccinations in early May and spent several days with my parents while I was at work. By the time she was healthy again, my dad had fallen in love and broken down my mom's resistance to adopting her. They had also already picked sister Jigsaw to join their home. So Tetris and Jigsaw frequently traveled to my parent's house to visit them and their cat, Beignet.
Sudoku wasn't distressed while Tetris was gone, but he definitely sought her out when she returned home. He likes Jigsaw and Kakuro, but chooses Tetris over them most of the time.
They wrestle often, but Tetris always falls asleep first. She can sleep even while her face and neck are being chewed! Sudoku often falls asleep while wrestle/love biting Tetris.
After a few weeks of watching Tetris and Jigsaw get loaded up in crates and coming home sleepy with full bellies, Sudoku started to beg whenever we mentioned "going to grandma's" or brought the kennels in the house.
Though she initially said she couldn't handle more than just Beignet... then shared how exhausted she was when Jigsaw and Tetris were there, when I sent this picture with the caption "Grandma... please, can I come?" her immediate response was "OF COURSE"
A few days later, I sent this picture without any text message.
Mom: Are you sending me the same picture?
Me: No... I just took that 2 seconds ago
Mom: Awwwww... dad wants them for Bengay (Beignet)
Me: Make sure he's wearing pants
Grandma was no match for this face. He was never denied.
His secondary tactic was to make his "please let me go" face while inside the carrier- in these pictures, he got into the travel backpack and refused to be removed.
Sudoku got fixed this week and goes for adoption next weekend. But Tetris was approved for family pre-adopt today and is now settled at my parent's house. He's currently in play mode with sister Kakuro- but I'm not sure what he'll do when he figures out she's not coming back. Sudoku is really going to need some furry friends in his forever home.
7/25/21 Sudoku's first night without Tetris... he's not usually that chatty, but he cried all morning, until I pulled out the video. Then he just let out a few pathetic mews at the end.
