Baby Crumpet's big bright eyes captured my heart at first sight. He was the most outgoing and courageous explorer of his litter, though they were never far behind. He led the charge into any new environment and found or created all of the toys.
While his siblings slept, Crumpet played on... often using his snoozing siblings as toys. He'd happily chew on their ears, wrestle with their bellies, or pounce on their tails... they'd happily continue to nap, completely unbothered by his attentions. But when he finally tuckered out, Crumpet slept as hard as he played. We loved posing him, moving his hands and feet around while he purred sweetly in his sleep.
I put a purple collar on Crumpet, because it made me think of Crumpets and jam. Ciabatta took her collar off after a few days and Pumpernickle slipped out of his collar a few days later. Crumpet looked handsome in his collar for quite some time (he did lose it recently). He was in his collar the day we drove my dad to a doctor's appointment. Dad couldn't keep his eyes off the crate of kittens in his lap. 3 of them were trying to rest and one was trying to wake them up. As I drove, I just hear my dad scolding... "Purple! Purple! You stop that! Don't bite them! Bite me! .... <insert multiple curse words> Don't bite me! <more curse words>. Don't cause trouble. Hey you! Purple! I'm gonna tell BenGay!"
We're lucky I didn't rear end someone... I was laughing so hard.
Bold Crumpet developed a taste for puppy food. He's crawled into the bowl, completely blocking Luka from his own food. Lucky for this puppy sized snack nugget, Luka looked more confused than carnivorous.
6/5/21 Crumpet had a reaction to his recent surgery/vaccine and stopped eating for a few days. But I think he enjoyed the attention he received being nursed back to health. I took him into a separate room for sleeping so I could monitor his nighttime food intake, and he slept the entire night on my face nuzzling into my face. I woke up exhausted, but happy.
During the day, I'd drop him off at my parents house to be fed throughout the day. He really liked my dad.
He didn't like it when I'd leave him alone in the kitten room though... he wailed. Crumpet definitely needs other pets or humans who are home often.
