SOMEONE READ MY BLOG!! I do post the link to my blog on every kitten bio with the HOPES that someone will read it when they're looking at our rescue's facebook page trying to find a kitten, but very rarely find that people have read them before arriving at Petsmart. But a family reached out to me, really hoping to meet Mushroom Risotto. At the time, I had several families who had expressed interest in some of my Savory Delights- with Beef and Rissi being the most popular, but I guided them to the rescue's facebook page and mentioned I'd personally be at Petsmart selling candy on the weekend and invited them to come talk to me more about the process and the kittens. Though it was a bit of a drive, they did come by on a day I happened to have the kittens with me.
It was love at first sight! They fell in love with all 4 kittens, and though they really wanted Rissi, they said they'd take whichever kittens were left after the other families decided. I also fell in love with them! Through text messages, I wasn't sure what to think about this unknown family, but I felt a near instant connection to them in person and their level of enthusiasm over my kittens was sincere and endearing.
They didn't get Mushroom Risotto, but took FIsh Taco, now MISO and Pesto Fries, now Tux. In the short time between finding out which kittens were available to them and their adoption day, we stayed in close contact- they sent me pictures of toys and collars and pet beds they were buying- despite me reminding them that they could save $$ if they waited until after they got to Petsmart and got their coupon book.
We became Facebook friends and they immediately began posting pictures of the babies as well as texting me updates. Mom texted and called me a few times due to a health scare with Miso- she apologized for "pestering me" but I was very happy to receive every call and text. I absolutely love being part of their lives still and I love that she felt comfortable to reach out to ask me questions about his health so we could figure out why he was sick- PLUS, based on the conversations, it was very clear that this family is very invested in taking the best care of these babies. (After tests and vet consults, we believe Miso's belly didn't like the new kitten food he tried so they put him back on the one he was used to eating and he's doing well!)
They've invited me to come visit the babies some time, so I'm hoping to get out that way soon. These guys are soooo spoiled!
