DISCLAIMER: any videos with my dad may contain swearing!!
Jigsaw is destined to be a very spoiled, and likely very fat, kitten. Her adorable looks charmed people in person and in pictures very quickly. When I posted the Puzzles on facebook, Jigsaw was singled out by so many people- but it was already too late, my mother had held her. Though she said she would adopt Jigsaw "IF Beignet likes her" by the look on her face it was unlikely there would be any other outcome, regardless of Beignet's reaction.
She told me later what prompted her abrupt decision to consider a second kitten was actually my dad. The morning of the birthday party at my house, he spent 30 minutes arguing with my mom about bringing Beignet to the party. Typically, Beignet travels with them, but we had been battling fleas and worms in our household. Dad was distraught at the idea of leaving Beignet at home "ALL ALONE!" He made empty promises to help catch fleas, but leave Beignet at home they did.
Mom even convinced me to give Jigsaw to dad as his birthday present, though he described her as "ugly" or "funny looking" and called her "kukalated". Still, dad's instinct is to feed everything and he was drawn to her soft fur.
Any worry we might have had about Beignet disliking her and preventing her adoption was quickly dispelled. Beignet took an instant liking to her.
Beignet likes to watch videos of cats. He'll watch for a long time. But when mom shows him videos of Jigsaw, he grabs the phone and pulls it close to him, or looks behind it to try to find her.
We have a little routine when it is time to pick up Jigsaw to take her home. We try to take her home and dad tries to convince us that she should be left with him. The first time (before I had my video on, darn him) just said "you can't take her; that's my cat".
