Brioche, now "Bri" (possibly Bridget) was lucky enough to find a forever home before she was even fixed. One of the other volunteers in my foster agency is also a photographer. She offered to take professional pictures of any foster litters to help them get adopted and I jumped at the chance. While she was taking pictures, Bri rolled upside down on a banana and looked up at the photographer.
If you look closely, you can see the bonds of love reaching out from this face and attaching firmly onto a beating heart. She wondered how well her house cat, Jasper, would take to little Bri and I casually mentioned that I was willing to do home visits. She left that day with one of Bri's blankets and was pleased to tell me that Jasper was very interested in the enticing Bri smell on it. He was not immediately angered.
HL brought her excited adult kid to visit with Bri. She seemed thrilled to lean up against a trash can.... the surroundings don't matter much when you're in kitten heaven. She also enjoyed her visit from two fluffy clouds :)
With a few health issues, we had to delay the home visits. But Bri actually made two visits to Jasper.
Jasper was completely fascinated by little Bri. The first thing we did was put her in the litter box and he was baffled by her presence there. When she was done with her business, she went into explorer mode, unbothered by her large black shadow. He stalked her, straddled her, bopped her on the head, bit her neck... but all in a very gentle, non-aggressive way- just establishing his dominance. Bri accepted it easily- which actually worried his future family a bit- as she'd just go limp in total submission and they kept thinking she'd fainted or died. But it was really the best reaction to help Jasper accept her into his home. I have no doubt that Sassy Bri will make a stand when she lives there- and let Jasper know that while she might respect his space- that she also deserves her own.
I'm very excited for Bri to find her forever home with a friend. I love fostering and have learned to love to say goodbye to my babies in a bittersweet way... but it makes me so sad when I never hear anything from them again. I know I'll hear all about Bri's life!
Bri was adopted this past week and is settling well into her new home. Jasper gets a little excited now and then... their most commonly shouted phrase currently is "Jasper! Don't eat the baby!" But Bri, in her Bri way, is unfazed by Jasper's exuberant attentions. She will stalk his tail and accept the consequences willingly.
Usurped from his throne as single feline ruler of the house, Jasper tried to run away from home in protest, but realized outside was HOT and SUCKY. So he's learning to appreciate having a new playmate.
