Bains Public de Dunkerque

These magnificent public baths were built in 1890 and designed by three architects, one of whom (Alfred Dumont) was also responsible for the even more impressive public baths at Roubaix (now a renowned museum of art).

The baths have been closed since 1975 and subsequently suffered fell into disrepair.

Funding was found in order to carry out work on the exterior and to make good the roof in order to stop any further deterioration. Further funding is being gathered in order to complete a full restoration.

There is talk of the building becoming a museum of Flemish folk culture.
