Ellis Island and my family
This is a story my father told me verbally. His father Alberto Pascale, from Naples (i.e. my grand father, whose name I have herited – I’m now 75), was a medical officer of the Italian Army on board the ships of emigrants from Italy to the U.S., in charge of both medical and administrative assistance, in late 19th and early 20th century. This job took him on several occasions to Ellis Island in order to assist Italians during their quarantine and help them in relating with the American authorities.
