Hello Editors!

It's time for the monthly Editors Newsletter!

Thank you for all your contributions and enjoy the FULL VERSION below :)

Waze Communities Team.

Knowledge Shared = Knowledge2

We are taking one more step toward improving the community knowledge base with the launch of the Waze Help Community - connecting users with questions to fellow-users with answers on Waze products and processes. This searchable, evolving, self-help support ecosystem will help Waze users and enthusiasts quickly find answers to their questions, or pose new questions to the community of experts which will then be added to the group knowledge base. Thanks to all Product Experts (PEs), who are our amazing community members, for participating in the pilot test and for sharing their knowledge and answering questions.

Check out the most popular topics and newest questions on Waze Help Community here. We encourage you to help someone with your answer!

Waze Junction Box Updates

We're happy to announce that Junction Boxes (JB) are now supported on roundabouts. You can now add JB on Roundabouts and edit turn instructions! The junction box is a tool that enables a complex intersection, or interchange composed of multiple segments to be treated by the routing server as a single junction node with multiple inputs and outputs. Until today Junction Boxes were not applicable on roundabouts but now it is finally possible!

Wazers + Inspiration = More Fun Drives

Our dearest Wazers, you inspire us to come up with ideas to make your drives even more fun. Thank you for your awesome engagement and feedback on Halo and Paw Patrol moods, voices and cars. We love your comments and feedback and it keeps us inspired to make Waze the best driving experience.

We Hear You!

Thank you for your sincere participation and positive feedback in the Editors Community Survey. Almost 1K community members took our survey this year. This reflects the passion and engagement you bring to the Waze community. It's interesting to note that despite COVID, the majority of you continued to edit the Waze map even when many people weren’t actively on the road!

We take the survey results very seriously, extracting takeaways and actionable insights which are critical for improving the Waze experience. We are working to make the promotion and selection process more transparent; empower you with more helpful resources; improve communication across all platforms, including WME chat. Once again, thank you for helping make Waze better with your feedback.

Learning From Our Heroes Behind the Waze Map

The way you edit the Waze Map has changed how drivers navigate and drive. As we continue to work on improving your experience, we are also looking at how community members can help each other improve their map editing skills. A HUGE thanks to our Global Champ vince1612 from Switzerland, and Local Champ SkiDooGuy from the US for sharing their best tips and tricks with our editors community during the Community Office Hours on 8th August. The community really appreciated their favorite tips for maximizing the Waze Forums and WME editing experience. We learn more when we learn together - more power to our amazing community! In case you missed it, watch it here.

Get to Know Your Partners in Mobility

We're thrilled to announce the launch of the new Waze for Cities (WFC) Partners Hub, a more stable platform and better integrated with Waze tools. The new Hub will replace the old Portal as a platform for all partner tools and data, enabling them to communicate with Waze, other partners - and the editors community! Kudos to our partners for working with us to help alert drivers and navigate them to safe and better routes.

We have also revised the Reporting tool for the Hub which will enable you to more efficiently report incidents and events. It will be made available to you in the coming weeks. Thank you for joining the new Partners Hub webinar. Click here to watch the recording.

Meet a Top Contributor - Michel Machado from Brazil

Michel Machado, AKA mikemachado, started editing the map in 2014 to fix a roundabout after connecting with other editors in the forum who helped him learn how to do it. As a map enthusiast, Mike believes that being a Waze Map editor is serious fun because keeping the map up-to-date affects the driving experience of Wazers around the world.

Now a Global Champ, Mike is happy about being able to help others and loves being a part of the community. He cherishes the happy memories of interacting with fellow Wazers over the years, especially how everyone came together to celebrate his birthday virtually in 2017 when he could not make it back home to be with his family and friends,

Mike - we're happy to hear that Waze brought you happy memories! Thank you for all that you do :)

Meeting Our Brave Beta Testers

Kudos to our Beta Testers for test-driving and helping us make sure that we’re giving you a new & improved Waze with every app release. It was great to meet you all in our Annual Beta Community Meetup and share updates from Waze staff about QA, Product and UXR. Thank you for your whole-hearted participation and insightful questions which help us understand your concerns better and improve the Waze experience. We were truly inspired by the "word cloud" you generated about what the Beta Community means to you!

If you are not a Beta tester, we invite you to join the community and be our test driver—literally!

Wazers Respond to Hurricane Ida

Kudos to our amazing Waze Community in the US for helping to keep drivers safe during Hurricane Ida. Through the collaborative work of our editors and partners, the Waze map was updated in real-time with closure and shelter information. Thank you for helping drivers stay safe!

We want to hear from you :)
