March 2023

Hello Editors!

It's time for the monthly Editors Community Newsletter!

Thank you for all your contributions and enjoy the FULL VERSION below :)

Waze Communities Team.

Waze has joined the Electrical Vehicle revolution!

We recently launched new WME features to support EV by allowing editors to map EV Charging Stations!

Many countries get real-time data from EV feeds, and new Charging Stations can be added as a Place Update Request. Check with your country’s coordinator to see if you can help!

Crisis Response Turkey

Two strong earthquakes struck Turkey and Syria on Monday, February 6th. Our community and Crisis Team updated road closures and mapped emergency shelters to help locals. Additionally, we supported rescue teams with map data, helping free trapped citizens. Our thoughts are with those impacted by these events. North American Mega Meetup

We kicked off 2023 in style with the NA Mega Meetup in fabulous Las Vegas from February 3rd-5th! 99 community members from the US, Canada, and Mexico joined us. Over 30 staff members were there for a weekend jam-packed with sharing feedback, learning about new features and initiatives, and celebrating our amazing community.

Meetup Ramp Up

March started off with Canada and Israel Waze Cafes, heading off to Brazil for a Local Meetup. This weekend will be a busy one with the APAC Mega Meetup, Moldova’s Waze Cafe, and a local meetup in the US . The month will finish with Waze Cafes in the US and Belgium, and another local in the US. Check out upcoming events here!

Saving the Sorbian Minority Language

Our incredible community has done their part to help save the Sorbian language! The Sorbs are a national minority in the German states of Saxony and Brandenburg. The local community reached out to municipalities in Brandenburg to map all Sorbian street names by International Mother Language Day, February 21st, which is a holiday dedicated to helping keep minority languages alive. We’re so proud to be able to help!
