January 2023

Hello Editors!

It's time for the monthly Editors Community Newsletter!

Thank you for all your contributions and enjoy the FULL VERSION below :)

Waze Communities Team.

Launching KoiFish MapRaids

KoiFish is our fun codename for a new map suggestions feature that allows Editors to view suggestions for improving their local map. This feature surfaces segments that may be missing or inaccurately paved in the Waze map. Editors can then accept or reject those suggestions.

To help build our best possible map we will be hosting 2 rounds of MapRaids where local communities double down on their suggested segments! Contact your community manager if you want to participate, and you may get some swag…

Cheers to a New Year!

We’re thrilled to be sharing our first Editors Newsletter in 2023! We want to thank you for all of your contributions from 2022. We couldn’t do this without your support and dedication. You are what makes Waze so special, and we’re looking forward to another eventful year together!

First Lady of Waze Italy

Maria Iole, AKA miole67, is a beloved leader in the Italian Editors community. Maria spoke to the press to encourage more women to join our editing community. Read about her story, and the incredible contributions she makes to our communities in Italy and across the world here! Follow Maria's lead and invite your female friends to join us in the map.

Clean Air Zone Bristol

UK community members helped map a new pass, “Bristol Clean Air Zone”. This pass supports a new local initiative restricting roads to certain car types. Now, drivers will get routes customized to their car types. This pass is key to helping drivers avoid fines, reduce carbon footprints, and improve drive time. Read more about it here. Thanks to everyone who helped!

Beating Back Blizzards Together

With unprecedented winter weather across the plains in the United States, our North America Editors community banded together! Over 2,300 segments were closed in 48 hours, following the Minnesota Department of Transportation’s guidelines. There were no URs reported for incorrect closures after the quick action of our incredible community! Thanks to everyone who helped keep Wazers safe throughout the storm.

Brazilian Partners and Editors Webinar

Two of our amazing leaders in the Brazilian community, Mike Machado and André Felicio, hosted one webinar each to train local Partners in road closures, traffic events and a brief intro to Crisis. Thanks to Mike and André for leading these important sessions! Want to support your local Partners? Join the Partners forum here.

We want to hear from you :)
