Dear Editors!

It's time for the monthly Editors' Community Newsletter!

Thank you for all your contributions and enjoy your reading :)

The Waze Communities Team

What's new on WME?

Natural features layer

Natural features are tricky to edit around. Now, you can remove them while keeping other entities visible with the new Natural features layer. Thanks to everyone who suggested and upvoted this feature idea in the Suggestion Box!

Issue tracker improvements

The Issue tracker is easier to use with the addition of navigation arrows at the bottom of each page. Now, you can easily move between pages without having to scroll back up to the top.

49 fixed bugs!

The team was really busy fixing a long list of bugs in version 2.195 related to lane guidance, segment connections, map suggestions and more! See the full list of fixed bugs.

New on Waze

The leaderboard is live

The feature we all loved is back! See how you stack up locally and globally among fellow drivers, with full rankings and point details just a tap away.

Emergency vehicle alert

Authorities around the world have asked for our help to minimize road accidents involving stopped emergency vehicles. In response, we added a new emergency vehicle alert to Waze and enabled reporting through our partner tools. We hope to make reporting available to Wazers soon.

Meetups and upcoming events!

Africa’s First Waze Cafe

A group of passionate community members met in Kigali, Rwanda last month for a fun afternoon filled with engaging conversations about Waze. Over a tasty lunch, they explored innovative ideas to enhance the map experience in Rwanda and across Africa.

More Waze Cafes happened across the globe last month in Peru, Netherlands, Ukraine, Philippines and the USA. In addition, the community in Brazil met for a local meetup. May we continue meeting like this through the New Year!

Waze Whatsapp stickers

Mentoring Coordinators

Mentoring Coordinators are the heroes behind your community’s growth: They connect new editors looking for help with kind editors who are willing to mentor them. They supported +500 new editors in 2023, mostly from France, Brazil, USA, Colombia and Spain. Thanks Mentoring Coordinators and Mentors!

How you helped drivers

Low water crossing alerts

The community has been helping the San Antonio River Authority optimize their feed to offer drivers real-time low water crossing alerts. This in-depth mapping done together with a Waze for Cities partner is a great example of what we can do together!
