Hello Communities!

Welcome to our 11th edition :)

In light of the constantly evolving situation with COVID-19, we hope everyone is safe and healthy. Thank you for helping each other navigate to safety by editing in the WME and being active community members. Read on to find out what our communities have been up to recently.

It's time for Online Mega Meetups!

Even though we can't currently meet face to face, we're excited about meeting you online for our Mega Meetups :)

In the coming months, we'll be holding 3 online Mega Meetups, in different languages:

The first one, coming up on September 6th, is the LATAM Mega Meetup! SIGN UP HERE - we only have 250 spots available! Claim your spot today!

The Europe Mega Meetup will be held in October, and the Brazil Mega Meetup in November. Read more about it in this forum post. We'll share more details about each event as we move closer to the date.

Usually, Mega Meetups are only open to Champs. This year, with Meetups being held online due to COVID-19 related travel restrictions, we're inviting all community members!

The Meetups will be full of fun presentations, Q&As and Office Hours, where small groups of community members meet staff to discuss a popular Waze topic.

*Everyone's invited to all Meetups, but please note the LATAM Meetup will be held in Spanish and the Brazil Meetup will be held in Portuguese.

Lane Guidance Update

The Lane Guidance feature is gradually released to users around the world! Thanks to our editors who are diligently mapping lanes, this popular feature is almost good to go. A great example of a community who cares about their lanes, is Colombia -

The community in Colombia ran a 7-day LanesRaid, during which they worked on more than 2,000 lanes!

Check out their Hall of Fame here.

If you'd like to organize a LanesRaid for your community, reach out to your community leader.

Meet a Top Contributor - Kpouer from France!

Matthieu, AKA Kpouer, started editing the map in Paris when it barely showed the outline of the city.

As a contributor to open source softwares, Matthieu liked the idea of working together with other map editors so that drivers in Paris could easily navigate the city.

Today, Matthieu is a Coordinator, Global Champ, Beta Leader and very busy working on the Toll Pricing feature.

With more than 1.2 million edits around the world, here's Matthieu's advice to new editors: "Waze might look to be perfect but there is always something to do, so don't be afraid, contact your local community and start editing."

Waze Moods Memory game

Test your memory with a do-it-yourself card game created by wouls_1 and DragonHeart69 from the Belgian community!

Railroad Crossing MapRaid in Poland

The Polish community planned a 10-day long MapRaid, dedicated to adding railroad crossing (or RRC) locations to the map.

6 days into the MapRaid, this productive community added or verified every RRC in the country!

While adding more than 13,000 RRCs, these happy raiders also significantly improved their local map, by adding more than 40,000 new segments!

To participate or organize a MapRaid, contact your local community.

Radio Shoutout to the Portuguese Community

What happens when a nationally recognized radio broadcaster in Portugal is a Waze Fan? He wears a Waze shirt on camera and takes every opportunity to shout out to his friends in the portuguese community! See the Instagram post the community shared here.
