What’s new on WME?

Are you tired of opening the Routing dropdown to choose whether a road is unfavored, neutral, or preferred? We’re happy to share that following a community suggestion and a very popular script by @mapomatic and @Wazedev, the Waze Map Editor now shows Routing options as buttons, removing the need to open and choose from a menu! Read about all the recent updates in this forum post.

September Meetups

We were lucky to host a variety of meetups in September. Our community in Poland hosted a hybrid meetup, while Latvia, Germany, Israel, and Ireland held their own Waze Cafes. It was a first for Ireland! In addition, a special Waze for Cities Crisis Response meetup brought together 30 partners online. Thanks to everyone who attended!

Queen Elizabeth II’s Passing

We were very saddened to hear of the passing of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II and are offering our deepest condolences to everyone affected by her death. We want to thank our UK community for their help in keeping traffic flowing during this period of mourning by using information from partners and social media to navigate drivers around outpourings of support for Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth.

Crisis Response to Hurricanes Fiona & Ian

The Waze Crisis Response Team recently supported Hurricane Fiona in the Dominican Republic and Hurricane Ian in Florida. The Crisis team collaborated with the local community and partners to add many Emergency Shelters and road closures to keep drivers alerted about Hurricane Ian. If you’d like to become a First Responder, please fill out this form.

Big news for Electric Vehicle Drivers in Brazil!

Drivers in Brazil can now choose Electric as their vehicle type and get a route that includes EV charging stations along the way. A huge thank you to the local community members who mapped more than 1,000 EV charging stations in Brazil to make this happen!

New voices for Portuguese-BR

We’re thrilled to let you know that 4 new navigation voices are available in Portuguese-BR: Japãozin, Cristian Bell, Rafa Xavier, and Rodrigo da Dingo. They are accessible across the globe and they each feature a unique local celebrity, try them on your next drive for some Brazilian vibes!

Malaysia Waze Cafe: Giving Back to the Community

The Malaysian community recently hosted a Waze Cafe. Not only did they catch up on the latest Waze news and get to see each other face-to-face, but they found time to give back to the community as well: after the event, the Malaysian community attended their periodical blood drive. We love to see the Waze community giving back, on and off the map!

The Community and French F1 Grand Prix

The French Formula 1 Grand Prix took place recently, in a remote location, creating huge jams for thousands of people. The local community updated the map by adding restricted areas and new permits. Drslump34, a local champ from the French community was on site and gave an interview!

We want to hear from you :)
