February 2023

Hello Editors!

It's time for the monthly Editors Community Newsletter!

Thank you for all your contributions and enjoy the FULL VERSION below :)

Waze Communities Team.

What’s New on WME?

What an exciting month for editors! This month we redesigned the user's profile, implemented a popular community suggestion for making city and street names not case sensitive, enabled highlighting Lane paths when hovering over turn signs, and more! Read all about it here.

KoiFish MapRaids- Round 2!

KoiFish is our fun codename for a new map suggestions feature that allows Editors to view suggestions for improving their local map. Editors can then accept or reject those suggestions. Review the instructions here!

We’re currently on Round 2 of these MapRaids and want to honor some incredible community contributions: Trinidad & Tobago, Finland, Belgium, Portugal, and Nicaragua have all managed to work through almost 100% of their local suggestions. If you’d like to be one of the communities reviewing your suggested segments, contact your community leader!

Flooding in New Zealand

Our community and Crisis team in New Zealand supported massive flooding in and around Auckland by adding traffic events and road closures. In addition, emergency shelters were mapped and local Waze drivers got a message inviting them to drive to a safe location. Thanks to everyone who supported these events!

Our Marvelous Meetups

Waze Cafes took part across the globe in Michigan, the Netherlands, and the Czech Republic. Kicking off Meetup season on a strong start was the NA Mega Meetup in Las Vegas! We’re looking forward to seeing even more of you as the year goes on.

Putting New Zealand on the Map

RogueNZL, AKA Hayden, interviewed with a popular New Zealand website about the community’s contributions to Waze! Read the article here. In addition, the community in New Zealand mapped a new expressway north of Wellington, within an hour of the road being opened to the public. Thanks for making Waze the best navigation app, ever!

We want to hear from you :)
