Laymen explanation

Aging happens everywhere. It happens to objects as well. For example, aging of the vehicle. If enough care is not taken, then aging will be faster. For example, if iron rod is not protected against rusting, rod will detoriate faster. In fact, aging speed is related to rate of detoriation. What about aging of human body? Human (animals as well) body is designed nicely using the concept of cell division. A cell division produces a fresh cell from the old cell. So, our ideally, body will be new forever. But why we age? Lets explore.

Technical explanation

Calico is a research and development company whose mission is to harness advanced technologies to increase our understanding of the biology that controls lifespan. This knowledge will be used to devise interventions that enable people to lead longer and healthier lives. Executing on this mission will require an unprecedented level of interdisciplinary effort and a long-term focus for which funding is already in place.
