Christmas countdown 2020

Quick notices

  • Kate has organised the Christmas card / mug orders so you’ll receive them very soon.

  • The Telling Tales Book sale generated 25 books for school and Miss Silva and Laura from Telling Tales have agreed a list of books so that every year will benefit from at least 3 new books on the theme of diversity and inclusion. Thanks to everyone who made a purchase. We plan to spend at least £300 more on books using money raised from the treasure hunts.

  • We are paying £595 for the e-safety training happening on 14th December as per the email from Mrs Byrne this week. It’s a sizeable but vital investment to help our children ready themselves for the online world and equip ourselves as carers. Please join it!

  • All children now have access to £800 of PTA funded playtime equipment including space hoppers, giant jenga, ropes, hoops and balls.

Now for your Christmas check list...

1. Take part in Mr Knowles’ keepie up challenge.

Guess correctly and you can win one of six official Man U Christmas jumpers. Watch the video for details on how to enter. Closing date 7th December.

More info in our last newsletter too

2. Get your pizza and cookie kits on order!

Kits are on Parent Pay. Final order date is SUNDAY 6th December (this really is final becasuse of the amount of admin we have to do). If you don’t have a Parent Pay account ask the office to set one up.

Get your class party ready

We need your help to set up Zoom parties for your class on the evening of 11th as we can't possibly run 29 class parties. We're looking for people to come forward for their class and set up a Zoom meeting with a waiting room so you can validate the people joining. We are not expecting you to be a children's entertainer! Making and eating pizza and cookies with friends is the entertainment.

We are also in need of prizes for children to win on the day such as books, card games, small boxes of lego. Thanks to Lara Bennett and Susie Snow for coordinating prize donations from the juniors. If you’re based at the first school and have something to offer please contact us.

Did you know? The kits are provided by Dough Re Me, set up by Thyme Outside in West Didsbury who changed business model when the catering sector collapsed. You can order kits for nationwide delivery as presents, and even get your company name branded on kits for virtual Christmas parties. Dough Re Me is donating 20% of every order to us.

Show the video to your children so they can see what's happening!

3. Get your Raffle tickets

Yes you really could win an Xbox Series S or Echo Dot courtesy of Philip James Kennedy! Tickets are on Parent Pay, £5. Sales close SUNDAY 6th December (absolute final date) and the draw will take place on 9th.

The line up of prizes from local businesses is incredible this year. Please support them and shop local this Black Friday and Christmas. A full list is at the end of the newsletter.

4. Join the Santa fun Run! It’s raised £3,761 and counting. Help us hit £4,000!

When we had this crazy idea we totally underestimated how much heart and soul you’d put into it. Thank you so much! We have one final plea and that’s to speak to your employer to see if you can get matched funding for your sponsorship.

If you’re not taking part please sponsor someone you know from the list. Let us know if your name is missing and we’ll add it ASAP!

If our fun runners have inspired you to take part then set up a Just Giving page, select Beaver Road PTA as your charity and Bob’s your Christmas Elf! We have just a handful of children’s hats left if you’d like one. Email beaverrdfundraisers@outlook.com

At the moment we don’t have any teachers taking part. Can you persuade yours to sign up?

On Wednesday we’ll give half the total to the Dear Neighbours appeal so try to get your sponsorship off the ground by then even if you do your challenge in December. Any money you raise after this date all comes to the PTA playground fund.
