June 2020

Hello, welcome to our June newsletter. We hope this finds you happy and healthy.

As it's nearing the end of term we wanted to get in touch to thank you for all the brilliant fundraising you did this year, and remind you of the things your money is going towards. We also wanted to tell you about some great ways you can help us raise money from home including Stamptastic and Stikins and our NEW TREASURE HUNTS!

PLUS we couldn't let the term end without saying a huge THANK YOU AND GOOD LUCK to our year 6 families who move to their new schools in September. Thanks from this comittee, and the ones before, for taking part and volunteering so enthusastically over the years.

Thanks also to Philip James Kennedy for donating £1000 this year and being our sponsor.

Treasure hunt!

We're sad that we can't have our annual summer fair to celebrate our school community, so we've got a fun alternative to bring everyone together in spirit.

We've laid two treasure hunt routes starting from the school that you can do whenever suits your family from tomorrow (Saturday 4th) until the end of term. Every family that takes part will be entered into a draw to win a hamper of goodies.

We have a short dinosaur hunt around Fog Lane Park, and a longer cycle route around Heaton Common and the Mersey, which is 8km and takes around 1hour 15 minutes.

All you need to do is find the letters we've hidden and unscramble them to reveal a code word. Send us the code word and you will be entered into the draw a second time. Both routes start at the school, where you'll find your first letter, and there is a different code to crack for each route.

How do I get started? Simply buy an instruction sheet for your chosen route online at PTA Social for £3 / family and we'll send you a copy by email. You can buy instructions for both routes for £5/family. Feel free to buy tickets on behalf of family, friends and neighbours you think would enjoy it. BUY NOW

Please make sure you follow social distancing rules, wear helmets if you are cycling, and think about the environment by taking only memories, and leaving only foot prints.

Most of all HAVE FUN!

A reminder of how to set up a PTA social account is at the end of this newsletter. Please note the PTA will do all the admin for this while looking after children / running a business so your instructions might not arrive immediately. It would help if you can buy the day before you intend to do the route to avoid disappointment. The routes will be ready to go from 4th July until 16th. We'll announce the winner on 17th July.

CAN YOUR COMPANY MATCH FUND THE MONEY WE RAISE WITH OUR TREASURE HUNT? The summer fair would normally raise £7000 so every penny we can secure will help us provide more facilities. Please get in touch if you can help: beaverrdfundraisers@outlook.com

Raise money when you get ready for next term with Stamptastic and Stikins

We've teamed up with Stamptastic and Stilkins to offer you two ways to raise money for the school when you buy 'no sew' name labels.

Stamptastic will donate 15% to us when you buy a personalised stamp and ink pad from its shop. Simply put the school postcode, M206SX, into the discount box when you check out. You'll receive a discount voucher to use on your next purchase, which is handy for all the great crafts and gifts they also sell. https://stamptastic.co.uk/

You can get a free white market pen worth £4.99 if you order the deluxe stamp and ink pad set. Entering the same discount code will ensure £4.99 is deducted from your order and we'll also receive the 15% commission.

Stikins makes sticker labels that won't come off in the wash. Stikins will donate 15% when you buy a set of personalised labels from its online shop. Just put 1542 in the discount code box. www.stikins.co.uk

Nominate the school to win books!

We could win £5,000 of book tokens for our school thanks to a scheme run by National Book Tokens. Simply nominate us using this form. It takes 30 seconds to do and if your entry is picked, you'll also get £100 of National Book Tokens to spend on yourself! Got to be in it to win it! Nominate us here

Talking of books... Madeleine Stanley-Jones in Year 1 has written a book with her mum Sally, called Rosie and the Unicorn. It's a story of dreams, wishes, kindness and the community. You can buy it on Amazon now! Profits are going to charities including the PTA. https://bit.ly/RosieUnicorn

Funds update

Thanks to everyone who ordered bedding plants. Your support not only helped the school by raising £300, but also helped a local smallholding stay afloat.

Over the last year we've allocated funds to:

  • SENCO equipment for special needs learning
  • Yr 1 role play areas
  • £1,200 of reading books
  • Year 6 business project
  • Art equipment to provide the same facilities at the juniors as there are at the first school
  • AV system for the junior school
  • Online safety education
  • Flamenco dancing and music for all children was paid for by the PTA on Spanish Day
  • Sports equipment for playtimes and PE
  • Playground equipment at the first school

We'll provide an update on all of this at the AGM in the Autumn, but it leaves approx £20k to spend on projects next year.

HAVE IDEAS? WANT TO DO SOME GOOD? We're looking for new committee members, and a chair and treasurer to take over from Sam and Kate when they step down. If you have ideas as to how we can raise money, especially in a socially distanced and safe way then please get in touch! We'd love to hear from you beaverrdfundraisers@outlook.com
