October #3

Movie night raises £800 and brings the total to £2,487

THANK YOU to everyone who bought a ticket and the parents who volunteered. We raised a brilliant £800 having a lot of fun! It really helps to kick start the goal to reach £20,000 this year.

We are also delighted to announce that Philip James Kennedy has donated £1,000 to the PTA as part of a year-long sponsorship!

Combining this with second hand uniform and Stamptastic sales, this brings our total to £2,487.

We're on to almost double this with the Co-Op, where our fund currently stands at £1,924.83! Please keep shopping there so we hit £2,000 by 31 October.

AV fund

We've also raised £155 for the AV fund - huge thanks to the parents who have contributed. Please do donate £2, £5, £10 or more if you can afford it here. It's easy to donate by Paypal or card. Your donation will improve facilities at the Juniors and all children will benefit.

GLOOOOW Disco tickets on sale now!

Yes, we're having a gloooow disco! It's going to be amazing fun. Here's everything you need to know!

When: 6 November at the Junior school. Nursery to Yr 2 will be 5-6:30pm, and Yr 3-6 will be 6:45-8.15pm

How much? £4 includes a glo bracelet and sugar free squash. Tickets are on sale NOW so be quick, the Nursery to Yr 2 disco sold out last time.

Can I get extra glo bracelets? Yes, we'll have loads of extra glo items on sale. All 50p.

What about food? As they were such a hit last time, we'll have cheese and tomato pizza slices (halal) and jumbo sausage rolls on offer at £1 an item. We'll also have a tuck shop with treats and crisps, including some lower sugar /salt options.

Is there a bar? We've changed the format this time so there's no bar but parents will be able to pre-order a drink for the night. You have a choice of a glass of red wine, a glass of prosecco, a bottled beer or a soft drink. Tickets are £2.50.

Can I bring an under 3? Yes you can, please add a 'babes in arms' ticket to your order. Tickets are free.

Is there a dress code? No, it's a disco anything goes!

Do you need help? Yes we do! You can sign up to volunteer when you buy tickets. We've made it clear which jobs need a bit of maths.

Where do I get tickets? Tickets are now on sale on PTA Social. Please give us your child's name and class, so we can check you in quickly, and don't forget your song requests! THIS IS SO IMPORTANT AS IT CREATES HOURS OF WORK FOR US IF YOU DON'T PROVIDE CLASS AND NAME INFO.

I don't have an account yet, what do I do? Don't worry, it's easy to set up by following the steps in the first newsletter we sent in September

Can I park at the Juniors? Parking will only be available to volunteers and blue badge holders.

What else do I need to know? Children MUST be accompanied by an adult. You can bring children on behalf of someone else but you will need to stay and remain responsbile for them at the event.

PS you'll notice an optional transaction fee when you buy a ticket. Normally the PTA covers this, however it does make a difference to what we raise overall. If you can afford to cover it we'd be grateful.

Is this an event your company would match fund? Please let us know if you can help. More info here

Update on spending - new projects confirmed

In the last two weeks we have launched the teacher's fund, which grants money to teachers for things the school can't otherwise buy, and which meet the charity's consitutional objectives to provide opportuities to all children. Two grants have been awarded so far:

£1200 to create a library of reading books to meet the school's goal of encouraging reading for pleasure. All children will benefit from this, and some will be involved in selecting the books for the library. This project is lead by Mrs Noden.

£470 to fund an enterprise project for year 6. They will learn how to start and run a company with support from business people in the area. It meets numerous curricular goals as well as helps improve life skills and confidence. This project is lead by Mrs Turner and will run in the summer.
