October #2

Hello,

This week's newsletter has important information about Christmas cards and a new process we have put in place to create your design and order it from home.

Talking of Christmas, if you are doing early shopping on Amazon don't forget to use smile.amazon and nominate us as a charity! You can also donate when you buy through The Giving Machine.

We've also news of our Halloween themed treasure hunts! The money these events raise will go directly towards buying new reading books which are in short supply and urgently needed.

Reminder! You can still buy second hand uniform. You need a PTA Social account (see below for details on how to set one up). Don't forget we get commission on 'no sew' name labels from Stamptastic and Stikins. Details on how to order them is at the end of the newsletter.

Have a great week!

Christmas cards are back! Create your design and order by 16th October

We're launching our first major fundraiser this week: personalised Christmas cards. We usually make over £1500 each year with this initiative. This year we're having to take a slightly different approach and we really need your support to make it a success.

How does it work?

Step 1. Create your design. In the next few days every child will come home with a form (like the one pictured). This explains how to create your design. It can be done on a separate piece of paper and attached to the form. You can do collage, paint, draw, use sequins, pompoms, cotton wool, buttons, goggly eyes... Make sure anything glued to your design is stuck fast.

Step 2. Go to Cauliflowergroup.co.uk to register. When you have logged in you'll see the boxes to input a unique code and school code (pictured). The unique code can be found in the top left corner of the form.

Step 3. Order and pay for items. This will then take you to the order page. Select the items you want to order - cards, mugs, gift wrap, gift cards and then head to the checkout and pay. You'll need to repeat the steps above for each child using their unique form codes.

Step 4. Complete the name and class of your child on the form and tick the box to say you have ordered, and mark the Christmas tree so it's clear which way around the design should be printed. This must be completed as names will be printed on the items so we know which ones are yours. Return your form to your teacher with the design securely GLUED to it. Do NOT use staples, cellotape or paperclips OR fold or crease the page as this will effect the end result when it's printed.

You must return the form to your teacher by 16th October. Note online orders will not be accepted by the Cauliflower system after 3pm on 16th October.

The PTA will send away the designs to Cauliflower on 19th October by secure courier. When they have been printed they will be sent to school and distributed to the children to bring home in time to send for Christmas.

***YOU MUST return the form by the 16th October. There will be no refunds even if you have bought items but forget to submit your design. If we miss this deadline we won't get items in time for Christmas.

*** if you are struggling for things like pencils or paper please contact us as we can help.

A perfect and special way to tell friends and family that you are thinking of them.

Need more ideas? Here are some using finger prints, paper collage, felt, pom poms, buttons, sequins, cotton wool, glitter....

Did you know...

By this point in the year we would have planned to run two movie nights and a disco. The total ticket price for these three events is £12, and with extras on the night we think most people would have donated £20 per child. By Christmas this total would double with the fair, raffle and Christmas cards. Altogether they would raise around £10,000.

Have you got ideas for ways to raise money? Can your company help match fund our treasure hunts or Christmas card fundraiser? Contact us beaverrdfundraisers@outlook.com we'd love to hear from you!

Can you afford to make a one off donation? You can do it now on PTA Social here.

Halloween Treasure hunts!

Following the success of our summer treasure hunts we've laid two new hunts to do whenever suits your family from Saturday 10th October until November 1st. Every family that takes part will be entered into a draw to win a hamper of Halloween goodies. The draw will take place on 2nd November.

Where? We have a short hunt around Fog Lane Park searching for letters, and a longer cycle route around Heaton Common and the Mersey, which uses landmarks and more general knowledge. It's 8km and takes around 1hour 15 minutes.

How do I win? All you need to do is find the letters we've hidden and unscramble them to reveal a code word or phrase. Send us the code and you will be entered into the draw a second time. Both routes start at the school, where you'll find your first letter. There is a different halloween inspired code to crack for each route.

Why are we doing this? The school urgently needs more reading books so every penny will go towards buying more across all year groups.

How do I get started? Simply buy an instruction sheet for your chosen route online at PTA Social for £3 / family and we'll send you a copy by email. You can buy instructions for both routes for £5/family. Feel free to buy tickets on behalf of family, friends and neighbours you think would enjoy it. BUY NOW

Please make sure you follow social distancing rules, wear helmets if you are cycling, and think about the environment by taking only memories, and leaving only foot prints.

Most of all HAVE FUN & GOOD LUCK!

A reminder of how to set up a PTA social account is at the end of this newsletter. Please note the PTA doesn't get an alert when you make a purchase so it would help if you can buy the day before you intend to do the route to avoid disappointment. Winners wil be announced after half term.
