June #4

HELLO! The 10 day countdown to the fun day is on. So exciting!

Thanks so much for all the fantastic donations last week. We were overwhelmed by your generosity and as a result we have an incredible tombola and bottlebola lined up, and some brilliant prizes for the Hook a Duck and Lucky Dip, and we've been able to boost the raffle prizes.

Thanks also to everyone who has volunteered, provided gazebos and got stuck in with preparation. The plan is really coming together and we know it will be a great day! We could do with more volunteers to help with panning for gold, cakes, the entrance gate and more face painters. Email us at beaverrdfundraisers@outlook.com if you can help or sign up on PTA Social.

See you next week! Sam, Nia, Kate, Gemma, Dawn

PS please keep spending at the Co-Op and encouraging friends and family to nominate us as their charity - no matter which Co-Op they use in the country. We are now at £1,114 and it would be great to get this to £2,000 by the end of October.

Ceilidh fun and a quick funds update....

If the aims of the PTA are to bring people together, try new things and have fun at the same time as raising money then the ceilidh smashed the brief! It was brilliant and after hall hire we raised £309! This is a great boost to the money already raised this term at the Taste of Eid and Didsbury Festival, and brings the total for just the last few weeks to around £700! Big thanks to Alison for organising the ceilidh with her friends and family.

Will your company match funds?

Some companies offer a £ for £ charitable donation for fundraising done by their employees for their favourite charity. The fun day has potential to make a lot of money and we could double this with matched funding. The list of companies is here and includes Microsoft, Barclays, HSBC, BT, KPMG and other big employers in the region. Can you help? Email if you think you can beaverrdfundraisers@outlook.com

9 sleeps to go!

Next week we'll release the fun day schedule so you can plan your day. For now, here's the final stall list:

Crazy Golf and Balloon Blaster thanks to Philip James, Bake-off Cake Stall, Bouncy Castle obstacle course, giant slide and penalty shoot out, The Circus House unlimited skills, BBQ with Little Pig sausages and burgers, Pasha Falafel and Haloumi wraps with all the trimmings, bar and ice creams, toys (inflatables, bubble wands and punching balloons), hook a duck, lucky dip, splat the rat, coconut shy, panning for gold, bottlebola, tombola, facepainting, glitter and temporary tattoos, henna designs & nails, Indian head massage, welly throwing, rugby, mixed martial arts, ultimate frisbee and tennis / squash by The Northern. And we have choir performances from Year 3 and Manchester Choir Voice to Voice, and 'Busking in the bar' thanks to Chris Hardy and his friend Beth, and of course our DJ Gareth to give us all that party feeling!

Long range forecast is for a sunny day! Please don't forget your sun cream and hats, and help us follow in Glastonbury's steps to reduce plastic waste by bringing water bottles, which you can refill at the bar.

Fun day rollercoaster!

Toubie Jack, a talented mural artist and nursery parent, has volunteered her skills to create a 'face in a hole' selfie board for the fun day. Here's a sneak peek from inside her studio... can you guess what it is? We can't wait to see the finished board! This will be a free activity, and a brilliant way to create a memento of your day.

You can see Toubie's work all over Manchester but her latest piece features in Stockport's Frog Trail, which has just launched. Toubie was selected to paint 'Sir Hopsalot' after being shortlisted in the Manchester Bee trail. There are 19 frogs to spot - certainly makes for a great day out over the holidays. Find out more here https://stockportsgiantleap.co.uk/frog/sir-hopsalot/

Don't forget Mr Knowles' football club will run on Saturday 6th instead of 7th so you can take part in the Fun Run!

Have you registered your place on the fun run and started to get your sponsorship? It's worth doing as we have some super prizes - 10 swim lessons from Nuffield Health (no need to be a member to use them) for the person who raises the most, and for everyone who raises £5 or more the chance to win one of three goody bags from Decathlon. And if you decide to run in fancy dress we'll have prizes for the best constumes too! You can get new sponsorship forms when you sign up at PTA Social if you need one.

Bake off

There's still plenty of time to perfect your bake for the Bake-off Competition. If you could register on PTA Social it would help us know how many people to expect on the day. There are prizes for the best bakes and remember there are two chances to win if you enter something made with vegetables. If you need veg-spiration then here's a list of recipes the Metro compiled...

Top Tip: We hear crumb and flavour are top priorities so don't worry if you're not an icing professional! And it doesn't need to be a cake, it can be savoury. (no nuts)

PS If you want to bake for the cake stall but don't want your cake to be judged, that's fine. We'll gladly accept your donation. Bring it along when you arrive.

Try Rugby, Martial Arts, Tennis, Squash and Ultimate Frisbee for free

We have loads of sport on offer at the fun day, including Rugby from Didsbury TocH, mixed martial arts from Lions Den Martial Arts, squash and tennis from The Northern. Ultimate Frisbee is also on the list and will be run by Claire Mitchell. Claire will have frisbees available to buy and will be donating one to the raffle too. Here are some of the sport's fans in action!

Welly-tastic

It's a game of skill. A game of immense strength. A game of pure fun... yes Welly Throwing is back! Can anyone prevent Mr Knowles from winning? This fine handmade trophy from Kingsley and Woody is up for grabs. Huge thanks to Kingsley and his friends for managing this event for us...

Top Tip: grab a hand stamp after taking part. You can also get stamps at rugby, frisbee, martial arts and tennis/squash. Get 2 or more and claim a free chocolate treat.

Raffle update - new prizes just in!

Don't forget to return your raffle tickets and money to your school office asap, and please include any tickets you won't use as we can sell them to the general public at the fun day.

Here's an hilarious game to win before the holidays: Jabber On, a game where talking is encouraged! It's been donated by parent Jacqueline Thomas, a speech therapist who specialises in helping young children, especially under 5s, with speech related problems like language delay or selective mutism. You can find out more about how Jacqueline can help if your child is experiencing problems at www.speechtherapysouthmanchester.co.uk

If you get hooked on Ultimate Frisbee at the fun day then you'll love to win this professional disc! Thanks to Claire Mitchell for this perfect summer prize.

Neil Barrett Photography has offered two sessions at its studio worth £120. You'll choose one photo from your shoot to get in colour or black and white in a frame of your choice.

Your donations last week mean we can add Pimms, Taylors Port, Jack Daniels, Moët & Chandon, Edinburgh Gin and Fever Tree tonic, and Hotel Chocolat salted caramel liquer to the raffle. We're also offering gift boxes from Joules, Boots, Champneys and The Sanctuary!

We've set up a Raffle page with a list of prizes including these from parents at the school:

Lenovo Chromebook from Claro Software

Three cases of UpBeat Drinks

An assortment of beer from Burton Road Brewing Co.

A gateau, selection of pastries and a box of 20 macarons from Bisous Bisous

Three £15 vouchers from Twizabelle's Treasures
