May half term

Welcome to this week's newsletter, which includes a round up of the money we have raised in the last few weeks and information about our upcoming event "Dress to Express" on 26th May. Information about where to come to collect bedding plants THIS WEEKEND is also enclosed.

Quick notices

JUNE 11th - Didsbury Festival parade - reception will take the lead on this, but if you'd like to join them you're more than welcome. The theme is Go Green and we'll be confirming the costume very soon!

JULY 17th - Fun day at the Didsbury Sports Ground. We are looking for volunteers to help get things organised before the day and run stalls. We have lots of different things planned for the event from our annual fun run to traditional games like hook a duck, lucky dip and tombolas to bouncy castles and BBQ. We also have a few surprises up our sleeve! Let us know if you can help, especially if you can get matched funding from your employer.

Do you have a gazebo you can loan us for the day? Please get in touch!

Raffle - We are looking for raffle prizes. In the past people have asked companies they use regularly, like their gym club, hairdresser, or butcher, to donate a voucher as a prize. Can you help?

Good quality second hand uniform. We are planning a uniform sale at welcome events for new children joining early years. If you are ready to hand on small sizes please let us know. Second hand uniform is always available to buy. Just email beaverrdfundraisers@outlook.com with what you need and we will look through our stores.

Name labels - If you completed the survey before Easter then you should have received your free name labels. We negotiated for every pack to be donated completely free of charge to us, and about 600 children took us up on the offer. If you want to order more then please use the code on the pack when you check out so we get commission (details below). Sincere apologies that Sam said you'd be getting a full pack rather than the 5 that arrived.

Taste of Eid raises £1,080!

It was brilliant to see so many of you at our Taste of Eid event last week. There was such a good atmosphere.

Huge thank you to Filza Anwar and all the volunteers who prepared and ran the event, and to Sweet Bakes Manchester who donated the beautiful cupcakes.

The event raised an AMAZING £1,080! In line with festival traditions, we'll be splitting this money with Human Appeal.

Artist impression of the slide. Funds needed cover ground work, the slide, construction and erecting a large teepee for outdoor learning.

Fundraising total... drum roll please

Easter events, bedding plant sales, Taste of Eid and movie night have given our total a real boost. We'd also like to thanks Candice Hornby who approached her employer, Siemens, for a small grant. We received £100! Can you do the same?

Our total now stands at:

£19,900

Our target for the slide is £21,000, which will be installed during the half term holidays! WOOHOO!

Coming up! Dress to Express, 26 May

On Thursday 26 May we will hold a Dress to Express day where you can reflect your true personality!

There are two options.

Option1: Wear your uniform with a ‘twist’, so you can...

  • Wear your uniform with trainers

  • Wear your shirt backwards

  • Wear bright tights or socks with your uniform

  • Wear nail varnish

  • Have crazy hair or a temporary tattoo

  • Wear a hat

  • or come up with your own twist!

It’s 50p per ‘twist’ and you can choose up to 4.

Option 2: Or you can wear your own clothes...

Sum up exactly who you are! Reflect your personality or interests and wear bold colours head to toe on the day, or perhaps come dressed as a character in a story you love, as someone who inspires you, or wear an outfit related to a hobby you like to do. That’s £1 and if you want to add in crazy hair or anything else from the list above then it’s an extra 50p.

You'll be able to pay by Parent Pay in advance (look for 'PTA Event' wear your own clothes / wear uniform with a twist) or pay on the door by cash on the day.

This is the last event we will run before the fun day.
