July #2

Well you guys know how to put the fun into fun day! What a day!

Huge thanks to all the parents, children, carers and teachers who volunteered to get up early to set up, stay behind to clear up, help welcome people and those who ran all the tombolas, the panning for gold, face painting, henna, hook a duck, splat the rat, lucky dips and coconut shy on the day all day, and parents at coffee mornings who helped us organise things in advance. You were simply brilliant and gave the event such a feel-good vibe. We'd also like to thank:

  • DJ Gareth who kept everything to time and played such great tunes
  • The 112 fun runners who got the event off to a flying start, and Rob and Mark for managing the event. Congratulations to Sophie (first school) and Callum (juniors) who won the fancy dress prizes - **please get your sponsorship forms and money in by Friday**.
  • Chef Martin and his team of helpers (Siobhan, Joey, Gabriel, Matthew, Abi, Cath and Mrs Horan) for running the BBQ, and Little Pigs for giving us a special rate
  • The team at Pasha, helped by Heba and Soraya, for out of this world falafel. They fulfilled over 170 orders!
  • Toubie Jack for painting the selfie-board
  • Mrs Hardy's son Chris and his friend Beth for busking in the bar
  • Mrs Myers and the Yr 3 choir who were a.maz.ing!
  • The parents and teachers who marshalled the bouncy castle - no easy job!
  • Claire, John, Neil and Simon for running the free sport tasters, and Kingsley for running another hotly fought welly throwing competition - winners were
      • Men - Mr Knowles
      • Women - Fran
      • Boys - 13-17 - Martin
      • Girls - 13-17 - Evie
      • Boys 8-12 - Jack T
      • Girls 8-12 - Iris
      • Boys 7 and under - Eitan
      • Girls 7 and under - Evelyn
      • And thanks to Woody for the hand-carved trophies
  • John for organsing emergency vehicles - you loved that!
  • Rachel for organising a brilliant Bake-off, her team of enthusiastic helpers Jane, Mrs Jarrett, Inma, Nikki, Shani, Joe, and the judges Chef Martin, Sonia from Bisous Bisous and Lesley from the WI. And of course all the incredible bakers. Congratulations to winners Sasha in year 5, Eliza in year 1 and Kate Quentin who won the adult and vegetable categories. Please collect your tins from the first school.
  • Philip James for providing the balloon blaster and the craziest Crazy Golf we've done in a while and announcing the Dream Home winners (see below)
  • Vicky for dreamy head massages, and Voice to Voice choir who were true performers despite technical difficulties
  • Phoebe Marshall for doing all the art work
  • and all of you for donating exceptional prizes and coming along and taking part - we had just 7 ice creams and a handful of lucky dip prizes left. We wouldn't achieve our fundraising goals without you. THANK YOU!

Kate's busy number crunching revenue and expenses so as soon as we have the sponsorship money in for the fun run we'll reveal the grand total. We can say from entry gate takings that well over 1000 people attended, and the raffle has brought in over £1700! Read on to see if you have won!

MATCHED FUNDING

We'd like to thank Candice Hornby, reception parent, who approached her employer Siemens last week to see if it would match funds.

Siemens don't, but instead invited us to pitch for funding through its 'Siemens Manchester Community Support Fund'. So we did, and 24 hours later we had received a donation of £250. As Kate would say, fan-flippin-tastic! We are so excited to receive this. Thanks Candice!
