Building Educator Resilience is NOT an Option. It's a Necessity

Research shows that 93% of teachers report "high levels of job-related stress" (Riley-Missouri, 2018). There are many factors feeding into this stress, but regardless of what these are, the results of this stress can have negative impacts on teachers and students. Teachers have the biggest influence on student engagement (Gallup, 2014; Martin, 2006). If teachers are stressed, students are stressed. If teachers are not living their best "teacher-lives" this trickles into the classroom and nobody benefits. All educators have a responsibility to themselves and to those they serve, to build and cultivate their own resilience practices on a daily, weekly, monthly basis.

Resilience is not a luxury. It is not something we should consider as fluff, extra, or optional.  It is a vital and necessary practice that every educator needs to infuse into their personal and professional lives. New Teacher Support recognizes and supports this necessity and works throughout the year to cultivate and build resilience routines and practices into all that we do in our work with you. Each month, we will share a new resilience booster for your consideration!
