The Netherlands
Your best bet for information about specific programs in the Netherlands is to contact the Universities directly. Note that information due to many factors may seem confusing. I encourage you to stick with it and keep asking your questions until you get information that you feel gets things settled. Ms. Borgerding has up to date links to contacts at most Universities in the Netherlands, so please see her for additional information. Here are some links and information to get you started.
A few things to note:
The cost here is lower than in many places in the world but they offer very little in scholarships.
Housing can be very challenging, so finding programs that offer dormitories included can be an asset. (See the University Colleges link for access to a PDF that gives an overview of housing availability)
All Applications in the Netherlands are started with an initial application via Studielink. Soon thereafter you will receive emails from the University with more specific instructions about the documents that you will need to upload and the steps you will need to take for all other parts of the application. So check your email!
Numerus Fixus Programs: There are some programs in the Netherlands that are more competitive, have an earlier deadline, and often have additional requirements such as exams and interviews. Many of these programs (but not all) exclude AI SL Maths. If you programs is a Numerus Fixus you need to be aware of the following things:
Read the website carefully and see Ms Borgerding to connect to you to a University representative if you have any questions or concerns.
Check with the University first about the application before you apply to Studielink as there may be an additional layer to the process that you need to have done before they will accept your Studielink application.
For most Numerus Fixus programs you can only apply to two (2) per academic year. You may apply for more programs that are not Numerus Fixus. The exception to this are the Medical, Dentistry, Dental Hygiene and Physiotherapy programs, as for these you may only apply to one (1) program.
Check your emails and watch your deadlines. This is your responsibility and if you miss a deadline you are out of luck.
Letters of Recommendation will be sent directly to the University and will not be given to you to upload, so please see Ms. Borgerding ASAP.
There are three main types of programs in the Netherlands:
Research Universities: More theoretical
Technical Universities: More hands on
University Colleges summary of Programs: Smaller programs associated with Research Universities. They are slightly more competitive and often have housing included with admission.
