Canada

Canadian Universities generally have two admission requirements.  The first is a minimum for the University, and the second is the specific requirements for the Course of Study.  As an example UBC has a general requirement of earning an IB Diploma so (24 points with including bonus points) and a minimum of a 3 in any of the IB English A courses, or an english language proficiency exam like IELTS.  Then a student would need to meet the requirements for the specific subject that they wish to study.  Please follow this link to see an example of course specific requirements at UBC.

Applications

Many Universities in Canada have very simple applications that are mostly done by the students, and do not require personal statements, but each University is different.  There are Universities like Quest University that have an application process more similar to most Universities in the US, and if you are applying for scholarships, especially the big ones (University of Toronto and University British Columbia),  the applications can be much more extensive, and require detailed financial information. Please look at this as early as possible as it may be necessary to gather such documents the summer before you start your applications.
