Gap Year Planning

University Application Preparation Before your Gap

At a minimum all students are required to:

  1. Ask two teachers for letters of recommendation and leave them on file in Bridge U

  2. Develop a Gap Year plan including some initial thinking about post gap year plans. Here is a TISA Gap Year template plan to get you started.

Also...

If you are applying this year and wish to ask the University to hold your spot then you must also finish all applications and requirements by December 15th. ( Same as every other student)

Gap Year Planning and More

If you are considering a GAP year more and more Universities know that Gap year can be amazing spaces for growth and development, but they can also be a lazy year. Universities want to know which one you did/do. Meaning that they know that if you do a "lazy" gap that you will loose key "accademic skills" and will enter Uni as a lower qualified student than what your Year 13/DP2/Grade 12 transcript and diploma state. However if you have a planed gap and can show growth and learning that you enter as a stronger, ready to go student. So a Gap year plan is critical! As an example this is what the University of Melbourne says about a gap:

"Gap in Study - Undergraduate

If there has there been a gap of 6 months of more between the completion of secondary studies and the proposed commencement of the undergraduate course, you must provide a Curriculum Vitae (CV) or statement of activities to explain the gap in study. Applications will be deemed incomplete and put on hold if this information is not provided."
