we playtested our serious games this week, in preparation for our user study which is due in Week 8
I managed to get lots done today - the start, credits, and pause menus all work. I also started adding in some Megascans assets using Nanite as it's supposed to be an optimal way of getting high detail without compromising game performance too much.
However, when I went to push all of my changes in my GitKraken project, I found that I'd somehow amassed something like 1700 changes. On closer inspection, most of them seemed to be webcache files, which I didn't want to risk deleting. It took upwards of an hour, trying fruitlessly to get GitKraken to push the work so that I could go home, until I had to give up. Luckily, I thought to upload the project as a zip file to my Google Drive before I left.
At home the next morning, I downloaded that zip file and tried to open the existing project from the Git Repository. Unfortunately, it didn't work and I ended up deleting the repo altogether to recreate it.
This allowed me to upload most of the project over a period of a few hours, which I would not have been able to do from campus, but for some reason I wasn't able to upload the actual Megascans assets. This is a serious problem and after a long day of trying to force it to work, I've had to concede that I can't afford to waste any more time on this particular problem. My solution - whilst not best practice and not ideal - is to have the project files on a USB, so that I can bring it into SAE with me instead of leaving the project at home on my PC.
