For our online portfolios (CLO.8), we will create an itch.io online profile, which we can continuously upload our projects to.
A vertical slice is a small section of a completed, or a snapshot of what the game is about.
We can use sites such as Trello or Hack&Plan for project management.
Greyboxing, also known as blocking, is a planning stage where basic objects are used to illustrate a 3D space (Karamai, 2015). This is before the final assets are implemented (see GAD174 Week 1 for placeholder definition).
Scope is the extent of work that can be created within the project constraints
Scope documentation is better to keep than design documentation - keeps everybody on the same page in case things get cut or changed
A project scope breaks down three areas:
Product requirements
details what must be done
MDA; no. of microgames
Process requirements
details how it must be made
who is doing what; software versions; where do assets come from
meeting minutes and changelog
Project limitations
details what isn't being done
what is out of scope; technological limitations
The Iron Triangle:
Quality = scope / cost / time
Known Unknowns refers to the things you know that you don't know. Recognizing what you don't know is as important as the things you are certain of.
