We merged Week 1 and 2.
This week's activity was to identify a text displaying a theme of power or media bias. I came up with The Hunger Games. The Games themselves are a horrific parody of ancient gladiator fights, but the Capitol broadcasts them as prime entertainment. We are constantly inundated with media in real life, and it can be difficult to "realize either that we are affected or how much we are affected" (Dill as cited in Matos, 2012). This is shown through the Capitol's enthusiasm about the Games as a spectator sport because of how the government manipulates the media that is released.
