Proficiency: How did you develop your technical skills and knowledge? Give examples of the skills and knowledge, techniques, and self-directed research that inform your project (min. 50 words).
The primary lesson I've taken from this brief so far is what an entrepreneur is; it is someone who is willing to take risks in order to realise a business idea (Syracuse University, n.d.). An entrepreneur is generally a creative person, such as Melanie Perkins. I also practised academic referencing some more. Even though I did this last trimester, it's been a while since I researched and referenced information to university standard.
Process: How did you improve your workflows and processes, including changes and setbacks? Give specific examples of your research and how it influenced your creative process (min. 50 words).
I'm having some trouble focusing with this Brief, because theoretical research and presentation are not my strongest suits. However, I am familiar with the process, having done it in a traditional university setting previously, so my workflow mostly consists of systematically answering the questions from the suggested template. So far, I haven't had any major setbacks other than difficulty concentrating.
Person: What communication and collaboration skills did this project require, and how did you develop these skills? How did you manage collaboration, receiving and giving feedback to others? (min. 50 words)
In Week 3's online class, we gave and received feedback on our progress so far. I was lucky enough to be paired with another student who is also doing her presentation on Melanie Perkins. We evaluated each other's research and drafts, and agreed that we are both on track to pass this assignment. I found that I prefer getting feedback from my peers, as it makes it easier to share resources.

Appraisal: Overall, how successful was your project? What worked or didn't work, and why? How did it match with your expectations? Give specific examples, screenshots or links (min. 50 words).
I'm pretty satisfied with how my presentation turned out. I felt it was to a satisfactory standard, even if it seemed a bit short during filming. Once I'd found my references, putting together the script and Google Slides wasn't a problem and I managed to get those elements done relatively easily. However, I struggled to keep focused during the research stage because this was not a topic I could easily click with. Several of my references had to come from the actual Canva website, as it was difficult to find credible third-party sources that actually answered my questions. Because of this, I had to keep in mind the possible bias that may have been present throughout. Finally, before getting feedback on my progress, I was concerned that I wasn't doing enough to pass but that worry was soon put to rest.
Challenges: What obstacles did you overcome and how? What lessons did you learn? (min. 50 words)
I tried to manage my time and do a little bit every day, but it didn't happen that way unfortunately. I ended up doing the majority of the work in one day, scrambling to get it done while I still had the motivation to sit and do research. Recording anything is also a challenge for me, being camera shy, so I tried really hard to manage my presentation in one take. Also, I don't have easy access to audio editing software, so it would've been exceptionally tricky to fix up mistakes in the recording.
Future Goals: How will you improve your skills for future projects? What will you do differently in your next project? What will you repeat? (min. 50 words)
The content of this unit is well and truly outside my wheelhouse, so I think it will be an ongoing challenge to engage properly. I'm willing to try, but I'm not expecting to be easy. In future projects, I will continue to use the same software that I did for this one, particularly Panopto, because it was easy to use and I didn't have to download or install anything to have access to the recording function. I had some trouble with time management during this Brief, so going forward I will try to do a set amount every day - even if it isn't to the standard I would like - and then go back and fix it up when I'm more motivated.
