What is SRSD?

It is a set of practices that are designed to help students learn, use, and adopt the strategies used by skilled writers. Students must monitor, evaluate and revise their writing. This helps to create self regulation and independent writers.

How is it implemented?

There are six stages to this approach. During each stage, a new routine is introduce and taught to students. Eventually the teacher and students will continuously be in cycle of these routines. The Impact Students learned how to plan for their writing. They also used the tools to self evaluate their writing. When given and pre-assessment and a post assessment all students improved by at least 1 level.

Next Steps

As a result of this work, teach teams are working to establish new ways to implement SRSD into the current writing curriculum.
