Personal Statement:
With over 11 years working in a New York City high school and over 7 years as a teacher, I have worked with youth in a variety of capacities. During my time as a teacher, I have served students with disabilities as a SETSS, self-contained, and ICT teacher in delivering instruction for grades 9 through 12. I have effectively provided high-quality instruction, particularly within the HMH READ 180 Program, a multimedia reading program, in which I differentiate instruction and track student progress based on the READ 180 data for students reading below grade level. Most importantly, despite how critical it is to help struggling students become college and career ready, I pride my pedagogy most in establishing a safe, student-centered environment where students can be themselves and feel comfortable taking chances and growing into young men and women they are proud of becoming.
