Personal Statement: Through the English Program in Korea (EPIK), I taught English and Gifted Program in elementary and high school settings in Seoul, Korea for three years. As a Teach For America corps member (NYC 2014), I worked as a Special Education Teacher and taught Algebra I, Geometry, Algebra 2/Trigonometry, Physics, Anatomy, English, US History in the Integrated Co-Teaching (ICT) setting. Currently, I am a math specialist at PACE High School where I co-teach ICT math classes and serve the school community as a Data & Analysis Committee Coordinator. My initial teaching pedagogy has largely been teacher-centered, however, through the Professional Learning Opportunity (PLO) by Manhattan Field Support Center, I’m transitioning into more student-centered practice where I’m beginning to believe in the power of differentiation, agency, metacognition, and Universal Design for Learning (UDL).
