Personal Statement:

I have been teaching for 5 years at Battery Park City School and previously taught 6 years at a middle school in Brooklyn. I use a variety of strategies to facilitate the inclusion of Special Education students in the classroom environment. Through my strong interpersonal skills and tireless work ethic, I maintain positive and productive relationships with each of my students, their parents, and the administrators and teaching professionals at my school. These relationships allow me to advocate for my students and empower all parties with the knowledge and skills necessary to address their specialized learning needs. My dedication to professional collaboration is also demonstrated in my commitment to cooperative planning and instruction. I work closely with content teachers to implement appropriate accommodations and modifications at every phase of the learning cycle and employ effective team teaching in the classroom. In this respect, I go beyond the traditional role of an ICT teacher, and I believe that the successes generated by my efforts have been well worth the extra time and energy.
