Personal Statement: As a special educator, I am dedicated to ensuring that students meet high academic expectations and make significant academic gains. In my classroom, I provide supports and accommodations to students with a range of learning needs. I have always felt that modifying the curriculum to meet the individual learning needs of the students is the most beneficial for them to reach their maximum potential. We not only work on curriculum standards and academic goals, but on personal, emotional, and social growth; not all growth can be measured, but can be felt and seen within my amazing students. We work hard and learn, along with laughing, crying, dancing, singing, inspiring each other, and celebrating all accomplishments. As I teach my students from Kindergarten through 2nd grade, to see their confidence grow as they learn and become more independent, is one of the best things – along with those ‘aha’ moments. I graduated from SUNY Plattsburgh in 2014, with my Bachelors in Childhood Education and Masters in Special Education. I am more than honored to work at the same school where I student taught!
