  • Data Liaison Series (9-12)

Coached by:

  • Jennifer Stone

PLO GOALS:

To expand my data retrieval and analysis repertoire…

● Analyze various data reports pertaining to HS accountability metrics.

● Utilize disaggregated data to determine program effectiveness and prioritize supports.

PLO LEARNINGS:

● The Assistant Principals’ Data Specialist PLOs under the supervision of Jared Vitolo and Superintendent Marisol Rosales, in tandem with the PLOs by Manhattan Field Support Center under the guidance of Ed Lam and Jennifer Stone, has equipped me to effectively retrieve scholarship reports, custom reports, create groups in STARS, use School Dashboard for historical comparison, VLOOKUP for disaggregation of data in EXCEL via downloads from ATS, understand Data Explorer and its use in not only extracting the lowest third for both city and school, but also to gather attendance data.

● Now, these tools are being used in my school on a daily basis to disrupt inequity and increase the academic performance of ALL our students.

IMPACT & DATA:

Scholarship reports were retrieved and analyzed for comparison to track student performance. Scholarship reports used were Marking Period 1 grades (before students started the program) and Marking period 2 grades (after the program concluded).

Results revealed that majority of student report card grades increased in English, Social Studies, Technology, and Physical Education.

NEXT STEPS:

Upon interviewing students, it was apparent they enjoyed the program because it made them feel accomplished. Most importantly, the engagement which occurred during the six weeks has extended beyond the walls of the program and into their classes and throughout the school community. Students are more engaged than ever before. Next year, we will be collaborating with the three public schools on campus to create a community-wide literary magazine.
