Personal Statement: I consider teaching my passion. My favorite moments are when students have those “aha” moments. I was part of SRSD Cohort 1, which was hosted by the MFSC. Through the years, I have worked with a range of learners. I believe that working with many different students from diverse backgrounds has equipped me to support all learners. I’ve taught grades 3, 4 and 5. I am also a member of the instructional cabinet at my school, and have served as a collaborative coach and a lead instructor for the New York City Teaching Fellows.

I graduated from Wagner College on Staten Island in 2009 with a BA in Psychology and in 2010 with a Master’s in Childhood and Special Education. I am currently enrolled at Hunter College working towards an Educational Leadership degree.

On Saturdays I teach 3rd grade for a non-profit organization called the Go Project, where I provide extra support in reading, writing and math for public school students. I also have experience as a tutor and enrichment teacher at Figure Skating in Harlem. I’ve tutored girls in grade 3, 5 and 7 and have taught enrichment classes in communications and financial literacy for the same grades.

I also enjoy traveling. In the summer of 2016 I traveled to Kenya, Africa where I volunteered at an orphanage and school and had the opportunity to teach students and support the school for one month.

I currently reside in Harlem. In my free time I enjoy spending time with friends and family, reading and trying new restaurants in NYC.
