PLO Goals
- To distinguish between the six models of co-teaching and better select models to address our diverse population of learners
- Learn how to effectively as cooperating teachers
- To assess our strengths and weaknesses as individuals and determine how we can work best as a partnership
PLO Learnings
- Recognize the six models of co-teaching and how to select appropriate models for our students and each content area
- Evaluate ourselves and our partnership to identify areas of growth
- Analyze students Present Levels of Performance (PLOP) and use this information to create implications for delivery of instruction
Implementation of Techniques and Practices
- We tried implementing Station Teaching
- First co-planned to create a cohesive and comprehensive system
- Implemented for an entire unit
- Compared unit test scores from Pre-Station Teaching to Post-Station teaching
Impact
- Students use manipulatives more frequently
- Increase in math dialogue between students
- More developed written responses explaining how students solved problems
- More differentiated instruction cognitively challenging each student
Conclusion
- Station teaching allowed us to be more flexible in meeting the needs of each student and achieving our learning targets
- Overall increase in student scores on unit exams
- Increase in:
- Student engagement
- Cognitive challenge
- Differentiation
- Students enjoy math more as observed by student testimonial
